What is the Opportunity?

Safer. Faster. Smarter. This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects. Aecon Utilities is a leading North American utility infrastructure provider with a strong track record delivering safe, reliable and innovative solutions across electrical, telecommunications, pipeline distribution and renewable energy markets. With operations across North America, Aecon Utilities supports critical utility infrastructure that powers and keeps communities connected. Guided by our core value of Safety Always, we partner with clients to build the infrastructure that powers the future.

As part of the Aecon Utilities sector, Aecon Telecommunications (Telecom) partners with major service providers across North America to deliver turnkey fiber installations, 5G network expansions, and ongoing legacy network services.

With a strong focus on execution, Aecon Telecommunications supports the full lifecycle of telecom infrastructure delivery, providing scalable, high-quality solutions that enable reliable connectivity for both urban and emerging markets. Working closely with clients, the team ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with evolving network demands.

Aecon Telecommunications is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of telecom construction projects within a designated portfolio. Accountable for project performance, financial results, and execution, this role oversees planning, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, change management, and stakeholder coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Working closely with clients, field operations, Finance, Project Controls, Procurement, and vendors, the Project Manager proactively manages risks, resolves issues, and drives operational excellence while maintaining profitability and customer satisfaction.

This role will remain open, and qualified candidates may be contacted as new opportunities become available.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Lead cross-functional project coordination efforts to ensure project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Establish project targets, resource requirements, and workload plans to support successful project delivery.
  • Own project budgets and manage all expenditures, forecasts, and budget revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, analyze forecasted versus actual costs, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule, budget, and performance objectives.
  • Collaborate with Project Controls and Finance teams to support monthly reporting, forecasting, project reviews, and alignment with client billing cycles.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor invoices by reviewing approvals, resolving discrepancies, and coordinating with Procurement, Accounts Payable, and project stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Oversee change order processes, including review, approval, documentation, and assessment of budget impacts.
  • Escalate supply chain risks and procurement issues to minimize project delays and operational impacts.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, technical diploma, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably within the utility contracting industry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, forecasts, and project risks.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel between utility yards and project sites; out-of-state travel is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license required.

The expected pay range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.

This role is eligible to participate in Aecon's discretionary Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP).
