Full Job Description

Netflix aspires to “entertain the world” by finding amazing stories, and sharing those stories through a personalized product experience that pleases our members. The Product Finance & Strategy (F&S) team partners with Product Merchandising, which is responsible for positioning, promoting, and presenting our content on our product so that members find it easy and enjoyable to choose what they love. As the F&S partner, we enable this via close collaboration with Product Merchandising leaders, Data Science, Business F&S, Consumer Insights, and Corporate Finance. To guide the business effectively, this role requires evaluating Netflix’s merchandising strategy across new and emerging content types, tracking market dynamics and competitor trends, and understanding how changes to the member experience impact engagement, discovery, and growth.

As an individual contributor Manager on this team, you will be the dedicated F&S business partner for two of the fastest-moving areas in Product Merchandising: New Content Exploration (NCE) and New Content Experiences (NCX), both of which are responsible for bringing emerging content types - including games, live events, podcasts - to life on the Netflix platform.

We are seeking candidates who bring strong analytical rigor, product intuition, and the ability to operate with confidence in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. The ideal candidate will have a track record of partnering directly with product managers and operational and/or creative teams, proactively identifying & conducting in-depth analyses for novel business cases, and synthesizing complex data into clear recommendations for senior leadership. Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, a strong ownership mindset, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.

This role reports to the Senior Manager of Product Merchandising, F&S. While our preference is for this role to be based in Los Angeles, we are open to it being based in Los Gatos with the expectation of regular travel to the Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support investment decisions and roadmap prioritization related to new content types, including games, live, podcasts, and other emerging formats

  • Distill large volumes of market, platform, and consumer behavior information (quantitative and qualitative) into key insights, tradeoffs, and options to guide product strategy and inform decisions

  • Partner closely with product managers throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure decisions incorporate relevant business context

  • Conduct competitive and market research, including external benchmarking, to inform strategy for new content formats and surface areas for product innovation and improvement

  • Partner with product and data science teams to define and evolve success metrics for new content types, where standard measurement frameworks often dont yet exist

  • Develop robust financial and operational models to understand the business impact of new initiatives

  • Synthesize complex analyses into clear narratives (executive presentations, memos, and decision frameworks) for cross-functional partners and senior management to facilitate decision-making and disseminate information

What we are looking for:
  • 8+ years of experience in highly strategic and product-facing roles

  • Experience working directly with product managers or embedded in product teams; able to translate roadmap priorities into financial frameworks and earn credibility in PM-led conversations

  • Strong financial acumen and comfort building models from scratch for novel business cases where prior benchmarks dont exist

  • Strong proficiency with Excel / Google Sheets, Google Slides, Tableau, SQL, and emerging AI tools (e.g., Claude)

  • Familiarity with streaming, media, or consumer entertainment 6 understanding of how emerging content types (short-form video, live events, interactive formats) differ in their unit economics and growth dynamics

  • Collaborative team member with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to drive complex cross-functional outcomes

  • Ability to work independently; must thrive in a fast-paced, always-changing environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; skilled in writing memos and preparing and delivering effective presentations to executive audiences

  • Highly intellectually curious, has the courage to challenge the status quo, and exhibits the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
