Full Job Description
Your role:

  • Collaborate with Partners and the client service team to plan, execute, and complete a wide range of review engagements, compilation engagements, and tax engagements for owner-managed businesses, private enterprises, non-profit organizations, and charities,
  • Manage engagement workflow from planning through completion, including deadlines, deliverables, team communications, client follow-up, and final file review in accordance with applicable professional standards,
  • Manage project financials, including budgets, WIP, and timely billing,
  • Support, mentor, and train a team of professionals on review and compilation engagement documentation, financial statement presentation, note disclosure, tax preparation, and firm methodology, while assisting with file preparation where additional support is required,
  • Analyze financial information and year-end working papers for adherence to applicable accounting standards and financial reporting frameworks,
  • Identify accounting, tax, and business advisory matters and provide practical recommendations to clients,
  • Review personal, corporate, trust, and charitable organization tax returns, including related schedules, elections, and compliance filings.
  • Compile and review financial statements and related note disclosures for private enterprises, owner-managed businesses, and not-for-profit organizations,
  • Assist clients with year-end planning, tax estimates, remuneration planning, HST/GST matters, payroll-related questions, and other recurring compliance matters,
  • Provide personal and attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships,
  • Add value by identifying client service opportunities, including cross-team collaboration with tax, advisory, bookkeeping, and specialty service teams,
  • Coach, mentor, and develop assigned employees for high performance and professional growth,
  • Share your technical or human skills with the broader team by developing and facilitating ongoing training opportunities,
  • Engage with all levels of our team while working to bring our strategy to life and participate in firm wide events that foster our amazing workplace culture,
  • Generate new business opportunities by promoting the firm's expertise and services, as well as developing ideas and solutions.


What you bring to the table:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) with at least 5 years' public accounting experience,
  • Strong experience serving owner-managed businesses and private enterprises, including review engagements, compilation engagements, and related corporate tax returns,
  • Minimum of 2 years in a progressive management role with a CPA firm,
  • Proven leadership skills in a collaborative environment,
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and client service skills,
  • Proven track record of planning and completing effective and efficient review, compilation, and tax engagements on time and on budget,
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards for private enterprises, not-for-profit reporting considerations, compilation and review engagement standards, and personal and corporate tax compliance,
  • Strong technical and analytical skills matched with problem-solving skills and professional judgement to help you find practical, client-focused solutions in an efficient manner,
  • Curiosity and an eye for detail that allows you to view challenges from multiple perspectives and enhance clients' knowledge along the way,
  • A passion for learning and developing self and team members to the next level,
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office, CaseWare, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, and other common accounting and tax software.
