Manager of IT Project Management

Carmel, IN

The Manager of IT Project Management is responsible for supporting the Director of IT Project Management in overseeing the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of technology projects across ACES. The position directly manages and develops IT Project Management team members, assigns and oversees project work, monitors project and portfolio performance, and promotes consistent project management processes, documentation, governance, and reporting practices.

The role serves as a key liaison among Information Technology teams, internal and external stakeholders, and third-party vendors to support the successful delivery of strategic and operational initiatives. The Manager also identifies and escalates project risks, resource constraints, dependencies, and delivery concerns and may directly manage complex, cross-functional IT projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery of large-scale, complex IT projects across the assigned portfolio, ensuring consistent execution from initiation through closure and adherence to established project management standards.
  • Ensure the objectives and requirements of assigned projects are clearly defined, documented, and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate resources are allocated to projects and that project activities and expenditures align with approved budgets and organizational priorities.
  • Maintain oversight of assigned projects and hold project leads accountable for managing scope, schedules, risks, issues, resources, dependencies, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Prepare and communicate project and portfolio updates to IT leadership, project sponsors, governance groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, status reports, risks, decisions, and supporting documentation are developed, maintained, and communicated.
  • Partner with business and technical teams and stakeholders to define project objectives, establish priorities, gather requirements, and translate business needs into actionable project delivery plans.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to project managers and project leads responsible for cross-functional teams, helping resolve delivery challenges and ensuring timely and effective project execution.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies; ensure appropriate mitigation plans are established and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve project management processes, procedures, standards, tools, and documentation.
  • Oversee project activities, including planning sessions, project meetings, executive updates, governance discussions, status reporting, documentation, and progress tracking.
  • Monitor the progress, health, risks, dependencies, and resource needs of the IT project portfolio and provide recommendations to the Director of IT Project Management.
  • Collaborate with teams to update, maintain, improve, and automate processes and business workflows.
  • Analyze project performance, delivery trends, and implementation outcomes to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and systems are available and ready for key market events.
  • Assign projects and responsibilities across the IT Project Management team based on organizational priorities, project complexity, resource capacity, and team member experience.
  • Directly manage complex, cross-functional IT projects as assigned.
  • Manage and provide direction for IT Project Management team members and ensure assigned responsibilities and project delivery expectations are met.
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data and appropriate access to ACES applications and market security-related interfaces.
  • Adhere to and support all ACES corporate policies and comply with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations applicable to the position.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Information Management, Project Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and eager to learn new jobs and tasks.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with distinct attention to detail.
  • Two or more years of experience as a people leader.
  • Experience managing large, complex, and cross-functional IT projects.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
