Full Job Description
The Market Risk Manager's role is to manage and mitigate risks within the clearing house through effective and timely communication of pertinent monitoring and validation analysis. The successful candidate will become a subject matter expert in Clearing House risk systems to prevent risk in coordination with Clearing House Risk Senior Management. Additionally, the Market Risk Manager will support the development and maintenance of the CME Clearing risk management framework.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare, coordinate and lead reviews of clearing firms and their risk management function
  • Serve as an expert on CME Market Risk practices and principles, alongside systems and tools for capturing and monitoring risk at the clearing house, including SPAN and SPAN2
  • Monitor markets on an ongoing basis and take appropriate actions to manage the risk, including the reviewing and adjusting of margin requirements in the SPAN and SPAN2 margin frameworks.
  • Produce timely reports and analysis for Clearing House Risk Senior Management on an ongoing basis and in response to market events that impact CME markets.
  • Work on ad-hoc data analysis projects as required by Clearing House or wider business, including requests from regulatory bodies (such as the CFTC), presenting findings to Senior Management and regulators as required.
  • Serve as a Market Risk leader on projects, working with the rest of the team and with the wider clearing house to both enhance existing systems and assist in the development and implementation of market risk measurement strategies.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of junior team members through sharing of knowledge and experience, professional feedback and delegation.


What You'll Need:

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • People management experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python as well as AI tools is a plus.

The pay ranges for this role based on location are: Chicago: $138,800-$231,300 New York/New Jersey: $152,600-$254,300. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
