Responsibilities

Summary :

TheManagerof Accounting is a financial leader reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting, within the Chief Accounting Officer organization, responsible for overseeing core monthly accounting operationsand reporting for our new home and insuranceaccountingoperations while driving standardization, scalability, and strong process discipline.

TheManagerwill manage a team oftwoaccounting professionals and partners closely withthe business operations andinternal back-office stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and SOX-controlled financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAPand SAP (StatutoryAccountingPrinciples).

Responsibilities:

Insurance Accounting
  • Lead the accounting and reporting processes for insurance operations in accordance with ASC 944 and applicableSAPaccounting rules as prescribed by the NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners).
  • Oversee accounting for premiums, losses and loss adjustment expenses (LAE), policy acquisition costs, reinsurance transactions, andother insurance-specific transactions.
  • Coordinate with underwriting and claims teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of reinsurance activities.
  • Serve as the primarypoint of contact between Accountingand the external actuarial firm.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
  • Drive close acceleration, automation, and process consistency.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Partner with FP&A and senior leadership to support management reporting, variance analysis, and executive-level financial insights.

Regulatory & Statutory Reporting
  • Lead the preparation, review, and filing of NAIC Annual Statements, Quarterly Statements, Risk-Based Capital (RBC) reports, and other statutory filings.
  • Oversee the completion and accuracy of statutory disclosures, including Schedule F, Schedule P, Notes to Financial Statements, and other required regulatory schedules.
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison with insurance regulators, coordinating responses to financial examination requests, inquiries, and regulatory reviews.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and communicate emerging NAIC guidance, statutory accounting principles (SAP), and regulatory developments to ensure timely implementation and compliance.
  • Partner with actuarial, regulatory compliance, legal, and finance teams to support accurate statutory reporting and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support audits and ensure audit-ready documentation, controls, and issue resolution.

Team Leadership & Management
  • Directly manage two Accountants, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development while setting clear expectations for accountability and quality.
  • Provide functional oversight of the broader corporate accounting team with respect to close execution, analysis, and reporting standards.
  • Build foundational accounting and SOX controls capability across the organization through targeted training, standardized workpapers, and repeatable processes.
  • May assume other duties as applied.

Digital and Automation Transformation:

As a part of our priority and focus on finance transformation and modernization of the accounting and finance team, we require that our team members embrace the evolution to digital capabilities within finance and throughout the organization.
  • Be a thought leader and a change agent to drive the adoption of digital capabilities and automation within the accounting/finance teams. Embed digital-first thinking throughout the finance organization.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into financial reporting, SOX business process management and accounting
  • Train and mentor accounting and finance team members on digital tools, automation opportunities and best practices in reporting

Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • Deep expertise in close management, financial systems, and team leadership, including experience in high-growth or transformation environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial systems initiatives, including close tools, ERP-adjacent platforms, and shared EPM environments. (Great Plains,JDE, Jedox, Blackline, Sovos). Also, demonstrate the ability to rapidly understand, adopt, and optimize internally developed systems to support business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and analysis tools (PowerBI, Looker)
  • Proven ability to manage and transform teams
  • Clear, confident communicator with the ability to partner effectively with senior finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Physical Role Requirements :Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers and phones. Repetitive motions using hands and digits; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.

Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required; prior experiencewith big fouror national public accounting firmpreferred.

Minimum Experience required : 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.

Travel :Ability to travel up to one time per quarter

This role pays between $ 105k to $ 130k , and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
