Full Job Description
Position Description

The Fund Treasurer's Office (FTO) is responsible for the governance, financial oversight, regulatory reporting, fund finance, and operational stewardship of PIMCO's public funds platform.  The team partners closely with Fund Accounting, Legal, Operations, Technology, and external service providers to support the effective management of mutual funds, ETFs, and other registered investment vehicles.  Key areas of focus include fund governance, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, controls, fund finance, and strategic operational initiatives.

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-oriented finance professional to join the Fund Treasurer's Office and lead fund expense administration and reimbursement processing across PIMCO's public funds platform.

The immediate focus of the role will be driving backlog remediation, invoice processing, expense administration, and reimbursement activities across the platform while establishing a sustainable operating model for ongoing fund expense management.  Success in this role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret fund governing documents, legal agreements, and investment guidelines to determine the appropriate treatment and allocation of expenses across a wide range of investment vehicles.

The individual will partner closely with Legal, Accounting, Fund Treasury Operations, Alternatives Operations, Technology, and external service providers to resolve complex expense, accounting, and reimbursement matters while helping modernize fund expense management through process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.

While highly operational at first, the role requires significant judgment in evaluating expense eligibility, allocation methodology, reimbursement treatment, and compliance with fund governing documents.  This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure across public funds, private funds, and alternative investments while gaining deep knowledge of portfolio investments and finance operations.  As PIMCO continues to evolve its operating model across traditional and alternative investment strategies, this position provides significant visibility and the opportunity to develop expertise across fund finance, operations, expense governance, and process transformation.  Over time, the role may expand into broader fund finance, fund treasury, fund operations, or fund controller responsibilities based on business needs and individual development.

  • Review fund governing documents, investment guidelines, and legal agreements to determine the appropriate allocation and treatment of expenses across funds and portfolios.
  • Partner with Fund Treasury Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Alternatives Operations to resolve complex expense allocation, reimbursement, and accounting matters.
  • Oversee legal, litigation, and investment-related expense activities, including budgeting, allocation, reconciliation, reporting, and appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Develop management and board reporting related to expense activity, aging, allocation accuracy, reimbursements, and fund-level trends.
  • Document procedures, strengthen controls, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and scalability
  • Ensure managed service provider roles and responsibilities are well established, consistently and accurately executed.
  • Partner with Technology teams on workflow automation, allocation tools, reporting capabilities, and AI-enabled solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fund expense management.
  • Collaborate effectively across Finance, Legal, Operations, Accounting, Technology, and external managed service providers to support a complex and evolving fund environment.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply legal agreements, fund governing documents, and investment guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-volume processes with accuracy.
  • Controls-minded with a track record of strengthening processes, improving accuracy, and mitigating financial risk.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Comfortable partnering with PIMCO senior leadership, fund controllers, accountants, attorneys, operations professionals, and business stakeholders on technical expense and allocation matters.
