POSITION SUMMARYEngineering & Intelligence is building a capability-based organization to support McCarthy's next stage of growth. The Engineering, Data & AI pillar provides the technical capabilities required to build, integrate, operate, govern, and scale applications, Foundry, data, AI, and engineering platforms.
The Manager, Foundry Engineering & Engineering Enablement will lead the engineering capability responsible for building, extending, and operating McCarthy's Foundry-based solutions while establishing the engineering practices required to scale delivery.
This role combines two closely related responsibilities:
- Lead Foundry Engineering as one team with a shared backlog, delivery cadence, technical standards, and production ownership.
- Build Engineering Enablement across CI/CD, automated testing, developer experience, reliability, production readiness, and engineering standards.
The role will partner closely with Palantir, Digital Products & Platforms, Enterprise Architecture, Data & AI Engineering, Applications & Integration, Cybersecurity, Technical Program Management & Delivery, and platform administration. Palantir Foundry experience is helpful but not required; the role requires the technical depth, curiosity, and learning agility to become effective in the platform quickly.
The role owns engineering execution, technical enablement, and the operating practices that allow teams to build and run durable solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIESFoundry Engineering leadership- Lead the Foundry engineering team, including Palantir FDEs, transitioning BI developers, and future McCarthy Foundry engineers.
- Establish one Foundry engineering backlog, delivery cadence, technical direction, and production ownership model.
- Partner with Palantir and internal stakeholders to translate business and product priorities into executable engineering plans.
- Lead the transition from primarily partner-delivered capacity toward a durable McCarthy Foundry engineering capability.
- Coordinate technical dependencies across Foundry, applications, integrations, data, AI, security, and enterprise architecture.
- Ensure Foundry solutions are designed for maintainability, supportability, security, reliability, and operational readiness.
- Establish practical development, testing, release, and production-support practices for Foundry delivery.
Engineering Enablement and platform engineering- Establish and mature CI/CD practices for engineering teams and shared platforms.
- Improve developer experience through reusable tooling, templates, environments, automation, and engineering workflows.
- Establish quality engineering practices, including test automation, integration testing, regression coverage, and release controls.
- Build reliability practices covering observability, incident readiness, resilience, operational runbooks, and production support.
- Define and reinforce engineering standards for source control, branching, code review, automation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and supportability.
- Partner with platform administration on environment readiness, access, governance, platform health, and FinOps-related dependencies.
- Create reusable reference implementations and patterns that accelerate delivery across applications, Foundry, data, and AI.
Leadership and operating model- Set clear expectations for delivery, technical quality, collaboration, and operational ownership.
- Coach engineers and technical leads and create a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage employees, contractors, and strategic delivery partners as applicable to the final role level.
- Make tradeoffs visible and escalate risks, dependencies, and decisions early.
- Establish meaningful measures for engineering flow, quality, reliability, delivery predictability, and platform adoption.
- Contribute to hiring, workforce planning, onboarding, and capability development.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience, including 3+ yrs leading software engineering, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or technology delivery teams.
- Strong hands-on understanding of modern software engineering practices, including source control, CI/CD, testing, deployment automation, observability, and production support.
- Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, distributed systems, integration, containers, infrastructure automation, or developer platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical work across multiple teams and translate business or product goals into executable engineering plans.
- Experience managing or leading internal employees, contractors, or delivery partners.
- Ability to establish practical standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Strong communication, coaching, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred qualifications- Experience with Palantir Foundry or a comparable enterprise data, analytics, or application platform.
- Experience transitioning from systems-integrator or contractor-led delivery to an internal engineering capability.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, automated testing, SRE, or platform engineering.
- Experience operating technology in a regulated, complex, or enterprise environment.
