Full Job Description
About the Role
Doss's Forward Deployed Services (FDS) team is the core engine of DOSS and the success of our customers. The Portfolio Manager sits at the intersection of product, data, operations, implementation, and customer partnership - leading a team of Forward Deployed Product Manager (FDPM) ICs while staying deeply hands-on yourself.
You'll own a portfolio of Doss's most complex, high-value client relationships and lead your team through the full post-sales lifecycle:
Discovery: partnering with cross-functional client leadership to analyze operational and financial workflows (flow of goods, information, and money)
Product Design: data model, workflows, and integrations
Build/Configure on the DOSS platform
UAT and Go-live
You'll manage a team of Forward Deployed Product Managers, setting the standard for quality and pace while staying in the weeds alongside your team. This is a player-coach role - you're not just directing, you're doing.
We are open to hiring across the US, but at the moment we are prioritizing candidates in Denver, CO.
What You'll Do
Lead a team of FDPMs across a portfolio of upper mid-market and enterprise clients - you're accountable for team output, client outcomes, and individual development
Stay hands-on across the end-to-end post-sales lifecycle: discovery, design, implementation, and go-live - this is a player-coach role and you'll be in the work, not above it
Own the success of Doss's most complex client relationships; your portfolio is a direct reflection of your team's execution
Conduct and lead cross-functional deep dives across customer organizations to map end-to-end business processes and workflows
Drive and contribute to new product capabilities that support Doss's push to upper mid-market and enterprise
Set the standard for best-in-class practices and processes across the team - build what doesn't exist, improve what does
Translate process flows into product design and configuration within the DOSS platform
Partner with technical teams on integrations and data migrations
Lead the portfolio through UAT, training, and go-live support across your portfolio; build relationships that drive retention and expansion
Coach your FDPM on client management, problem-solving frameworks, and delivery quality - and create the feedback loops that accelerate their growth
Drive automation and AI-forward improvements to Doss's product and customer lifecycle processes - we're an AI-native company and team
What We're Looking For
8+ years of experience in engineering, consulting, finance, operations, product operations, or technical program management, including time as a people manager with direct reports
ERP Implementation Leadership. You've managed a team through an ERP implementation (scoping, configuration, data migration, go-live). Strongly preferred, though we'll also consider people who've led implementations of other complex B2B software or run professional services delivery teams.
Systems Thinker. Everything in our business is highly interconnected across people, process, and technology. You can traverse it, untangle it, and put it back together, and you can teach others to do the same.
Player-Coach Mentality. You lead by doing. You're not the person who delegates everything and manages from a distance: you roll up your sleeves, model the work, and hold the bar.
High-Intensity. You've thrived in high-pressure environments (startups, consulting, finance), and that's a real preference, not a stated one.
Technical from First Principles. You can grok hard engineering and logic problems from intuition, not memorization, and you can break them down for your team.
Intellectual Firepower. You cut through noise, synthesize fast, and make good calls under ambiguity.
Strong analytical mindset; SQL experience is a plus (not required)
