Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manager - Financial Management & Analytics to manage day-to-day delivery of federal financial management and analytics engagements. The successful candidate will be accountable for client satisfaction, team performance, delivery quality, and outcomes. They will translate ambiguous client needs into structured analytical approaches, direct multidisciplinary teams, challenge methodologies and results, and communicate defensible recommendations to client leadership. This is not a pure project management role. The candidate must combine strong consulting leadership with sufficient financial and analytical depth to recognize weak assumptions, unexplained anomalies, delivery risks, and opportunities to improve the work.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day engagement delivery and client satisfaction, including performance against scope, schedule, commitments, quality standards, priorities, dependencies, and risks.
- Serve as a primary client point of contact. Lead meetings, clarify new or ambiguous requests, identify the underlying decision need, and translate it into a structured analytical approach and plan.
- Manage team performance, workload, priorities, and quality across financial analysts, data scientists and BI professionals. Assign work, set expectations, review progress, remove blockers, and integrate individual outputs into coherent solutions.
- Lead analytical quality control by challenging methodologies, assumptions, data quality, and results. Evaluate reasonable alternatives and require material anomalies or variances to be investigated before work is considered complete.
- Translate analytical findings into clear conclusions, caveats, recommendations, and decision-relevant insights for budget officials, financial managers, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain a holistic view of the engagement. Proactively identify the next analytical question, improvement opportunity, risk, or decision point. Escalate and resolve delivery, staffing, quality, and client risks.
- Mentor, coach, and assess team members. Provide timely, candid performance feedback, support professional development, and contribute to staffing and resource decisions.
- Remain sufficiently hands-on to perform or directly support selected financial analyses, models, research, briefings, and other tactical delivery activities when senior analytical involvement is needed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, financial management, budgeting, financial analysis, analytics, or a related field, including demonstrated responsibility for managing client engagements and multidisciplinary teams.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Professional credentials such as CGFM, CDFM, CFA, CMA, or another relevant financial-management credential are preferred. Equivalent substantive federal financial-management experience will also be considered.
- Strong consulting judgment and structured problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous work from problem definition through analysis, validation, recommendation, and client communication.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal financial management, including experience in areas such as budget formulation and execution, forecasting, payroll, spend planning, cost analysis, funds control, financial reporting, or financial operations.
- Strong financial and quantitative literacy, including the ability to review and challenge financial models, forecasts, projections, variance analyses, scenario analyses, cost models, and operational analyses.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large or imperfect datasets to validate results, test assumptions, and investigate anomalies. Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of data analytics concepts and tools such as SQL, Python, statistical forecasting, or data engineering is preferred. Deep software development or data science expertise is not required.
- Strong client-facing communication and facilitation skills, including the presence and judgment to lead meetings, respond to unexpected questions, manage expectations, and communicate with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, challenge technical work constructively, prioritize competing demands, provide candid feedback, and remain accountable for client satisfaction and overall delivery quality.

- This is a hybrid role. Employees must reside within a commutable distance of our headquarters in Arlington, VA.
