Catalent’s Winchester, KY site is the company’s flagship U.S. manufacturing location for large‑scale oral solid dose forms, operating from a 180,000‑square‑foot facility with fully integrated development and analytical services. The site specializes in complex and controlled‑release oral dose technologies, supporting product development, technology transfer, and commercial manufacturing across pharmaceutical and consumer health programs. Winchester has a long commercial manufacturing track record, having launched 100+ products and producing billions of tablets and capsules annually, making it a critical site within Catalent’s oral dose network.
Position Summary
We have an opportunity for a Manager, Facilities to join our team. This role will lead the development, maintenance, and execution of the site’s facility and utility growth strategy. The position ensures that preventative and predictive maintenance programs meet compliance and customer expectations while maximizing equipment availability. The Manager will also drive sustainability initiatives across energy, carbon, water, and waste, and lead a team supporting a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
Shift: Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM

The Role
- Provide facility support for a 24/7 operation, ensuring production efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Define and manage utility systems reliability programs to maximize system availability cost-effectively.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high levels of customer support.
- Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for maintenance programs to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Manage utility systems spare parts and documentation for effective inventory control.
- Oversee facility groundskeeping and housekeeping contracts.
- Manage repair, maintenance, and corrective work order programs for utility systems.
- Monitor equipment reliability and technological developments.
- Develop and deliver key performance indicators and objectives for utility systems and site energy consumption.
- Implement actions to reduce mean time to repair and increase mean time between failures.
- Partner with Process Engineering to enhance equipment reliability and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate team performance and ensure appropriate training for production system support.
- Manage contractors effectively and prioritize energy-saving initiatives.
- Identify and implement cost-saving actions for site services.
- Provide coaching and career development support to staff.
- Ensure training compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and company policies.
- Interview, evaluate, and counsel staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Manage external contractors and interface with Manufacturing, Technical Services, Quality Control, Validation, and Quality Assurance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage occupational injury and illness cases and participate in the on-site Safety Committee.
- Perform other duties as required to support Catalent Pharma Solutions’ high performance.
The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of utility design and troubleshooting experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing and developing technical teams.
- Experience in Central Utilities including Water for Injection, Purified Water, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, Chilled Water, Steam, Heating Hot Water, Electricity, and Sewage.
- Experience managing external vendors.
- Project budgeting experience.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
- Hands-on experience with process, controls, and equipment engineering.
- Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent‑sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
- Individual may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods; specific vision requirements include reading documents and frequent computer use.
Preferred Skills & Background
- Experience with large-scale pharmaceutical facility construction and equipment/facility management.
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Professional Project Management skills preferred.
- Supervisory experience and thorough knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations.
- Proficiency in PC use, including Catalent software packages.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and financial reports.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Experience interfacing with Manufacturing, Technical Services, Quality Control, Validation, and Quality Assurance.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and design.
- Practical application of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proficient in English verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
