Full Job Description
As the Manager, Documentation Systems you will be the bridge between precise technical writing and platform innovation for documentation. You will support the Customer Learning & Development (CL&D) team's strategic goals by empowering both internal and external customers to master Boston Dynamics' products.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Customer Learning and Development, you will lead a high-impact, dual-function team of Technical Writers and Platform Developers. Your mission is to ensure our documentation transcends accuracy to become a seamless, scalable, and intuitive digital experience. By overseeing the end-to-end documentation lifecycle and its underlying technical infrastructure, you will ensure our educational ecosystem evolves at the same rapid pace as our world-class robotics engineering.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of leading teams to produce high-quality technical documentation for complex end-user products. You have a deep understanding of the intersection between content and technology, having worked directly with engineering and platform development teams to facilitate just-in-time knowledge sharing. You are a seasoned project leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments where the documentation systems must be as innovative as the products themselves.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of Technical Writers and Developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Own the roadmap for our documentation platform (CMS), ensuring it is robust, user-friendly, and integrated with the broader Boston Dynamics ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Platform Developers to maintain and enhance the technical infrastructure, ensuring high availability and a modern "Docs-as-Code" workflow.
  • Partner with Technical Writers to establish style guides, taxonomies, and quality standards that make complex robotic concepts accessible to diverse audiences.
  • Act as the primary liaison between CL&D and engineering/product teams to ensure documentation platform features align with product release cycles.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for documentation health and platform engagement to drive informed system updates.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years in technical documentation, content engineering, or platform management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or people-management role.
  • Familiarity with modern documentation tools (e.g., Markdown, Git, CMS) and an understanding of web development fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to align technical platform capabilities with high-level business goals (e.g., BDU brand alignment).
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans for both writers and engineers.
  • Experience in robotics, hardware, or high-tech software environments is a significant plus.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Deep familiarity with modern static site generators (e.g., Docusaurus) and Markdown-to-HTML workflows to drive a premium digital documentation experience.
  • Proficiency in managing structured content and web standards, including DITA XML, HTML5, and CSS, to ensure platform consistency and scalability.
  • Experience overseeing documentation lifecycles using Git or other robust change management systems to maintain version integrity across product releases.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams within Agile frameworks, utilizing Jira to manage complex project backlogs and sprint cycles effectively.
  • Experience architecting documentation systems that support localization and translation workflows for a global customer base.
  • Familiarity with integrating documentation platforms with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to create a unified 360-degree customer success and learning experience.
The pay range for this position is between $116,479 to $145,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure.
