As part of the Aecon Utilities sector, Aecon Telecommunications (Telecom) partners with major service providers across North America to deliver turnkey fiber installations, 5G network expansions, and ongoing legacy network services.

With a strong focus on execution, Aecon Telecommunications supports the full lifecycle of telecom infrastructure delivery, providing scalable, high-quality solutions that enable reliable connectivity for both urban and emerging markets. Working closely with clients, the team ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with evolving network demands.

Aecon Telecommunications is seeking a Construction Manager to lead the execution of telecom construction activities in the field through consistent field leadership, subcontractor coordination, quality oversight, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, this role is accountable for safety, quality, workmanship, productivity, schedule adherence, and subcontractor performance across assigned projects. The Construction Manager oversees daily construction activities, conducts field inspections, monitors compliance with safety, quality, permit, and construction requirements, and supports crews through proactive issue resolution. As a key liaison between subcontractors, clients, utilities, municipalities, inspectors, and internal stakeholders, the Construction Manager ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements and company standards.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Act as a primary liaison between subcontractors, utilities, municipalities, clients, inspectors, unions, and internal stakeholders to support effective project execution.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily field operations, including crew scheduling, workload management, site readiness, and construction activities.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality reviews to monitor progress, verify workmanship, support locates, and ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, permit, restoration, and traffic management requirements through regular audits, toolbox talks, and field oversight.
  • Conduct daily field inspections of telecommunications infrastructure projects, including FTTH, OSP, fiber optic, and wireless construction activities.
  • Identify, document, and resolve field issues, deficiencies, stakeholder concerns, and operational risks while driving corrective actions to completion.
  • Identify and support change requests, extra work, claims, workload requirements, and project performance discussions by providing field documentation, recommendations, and operational insight to Project Managers and clients.
  • Validate as-built conditions and provide field clarification to support QA/QC requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting, including inspection reports, daily logs, photographs, progress updates, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to municipal permits, restoration requirements, environmental controls, and traffic management plans.
  • Troubleshoot field issues, including locate conflicts, homeowner concerns, customer complaints, and operational challenges.
  • Identify and document scope changes, extra work requirements, and field conditions that may impact cost, schedule, or contractual obligations, and escalate them to the appropriate project team members.
  • Identify and escalate potential legal, contractual, operational, and safety risks.
  • Monitor project performance and coordinate project-related materials and assets to support successful project completion.
  • Coordinate the receipt and distribution of branded materials, signage, and project-related assets.


What You Bring to the Team:

Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Completion of a technical school program combined with relevant construction experience is required.
  • Experience in the utility contracting industry with a strong understanding of field operations.
  • Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals.
  • Experience with contract and subcontract management, including documentation and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Telecommunications experience is considered a strong asset.

Must hold a valid driver's license.

The expected pay range for this role is $97000 - $130,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.

This role is eligible to participate in Aecon's discretionary Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP).
