Position Overview:

The Manager, Competitive & Market Intelligence (U.S.) ensures PMI U.S. leadership and cross-functional teams have a clear, forward-looking view of the U.S. nicotine landscape, grounded in robust market, consumer, and competitive insights.

The role delivers timely, decision-relevant analysis that informs category and brand strategy, portfolio and innovation roadmaps, and broader commercial and investment priorities. Acting as a strategic integrator, this role connects multiple insight "engines" into a coherent, actionable decision support system for the U.S. business.

Your Day to Day:

1. Competitive Intelligence Transformation
  • Support the evolution of the U.S. Competitive Intelligence operating model, including governance, workflows, and stakeholder engagement, in alignment with the global strategy team
  • Contribute to the scoping and implementation of CI tools and OnDemand platforms to enable scalable, repeatable insight delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement of CI capabilities, with a focus on structured market monitoring, early signal detection, and scenario-based thinking

2. Market, Category & Consumer Intelligence
  • Partner closely with Market Intelligence to support the development and refinement of a 5-year U.S. nicotine pool outlook across combustibles, smokeless, and smoke-free categories
  • Assess and synthesize market intelligence, including:
  • Category, segment, and consumer trends
  • Regulatory and structural market developments
  • Integrate multiple data sources into clear, concise insights and implications for strategy, portfolio choices, and execution priorities

3. Competitive Assessment & Scenario Thinking

Conduct competitive assessments covering:
  • Broad pricing and promotional dynamics (in partnership with RGM), focusing on observable trends and competitor positioning
  • Competitive positioning, growth trajectories, and high-level performance benchmarking across competitors, categories, and channels
  • Apply scenario-based thinking to highlight potential competitive developments and implications for key strategic decisions

4. Innovation Intelligence
  • Track and evaluate competitor product launches, formats, flavors, technologies, and commercialization approaches
  • Assess innovation trajectories and indicative economics (e.g., positioning, scalability signals, margin trade-offs at a directional level)
  • Identify potential business impact and disruption risks from emerging innovations and portfolio moves

5. Commercial Execution Intelligence

  • Monitor and analyze in-store execution, activation mechanics, and competitive trade presence across channels
  • Provide insights on commercial effectiveness and visibility approaches, including how competitors activate in retail
  • Support go-to-market decision making through timely, execution-relevant intelligence and read-across insights

Who we're looking for:
