Description Overview

The Manager, Commercial Strategy & Marketplace Insights is responsible for translating consumer, shopper, marketplace, customer, and competitive insights into commercial strategies that accelerate growth across the Infant Nutrition category in North America.

This role serves as a key business partner to Marketing, Sales, Revenue Growth Management, and Customer Teams, helping identify growth opportunities, inform strategic decision-making, and optimize category performance across retail channels. The position combines responsibilities spanning commercial strategy, category development, shopper and customer insights, and marketplace analytics.

The Manager leads the development of actionable category, customer, and channel recommendations using syndicated data, retailer data, consumer research, and competitive intelligence. In partnership with Marketing and external research partners, the role also supports the design, execution, and application of consumer and shopper learning plans.

Salary range: $120,000 - $135,000

Scope of the Role
• Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Growth Management to develop and execute category commercialization strategies.
• In partnership with Marketing, define category growth opportunities by identifying where to play and what it takes to win across channels, customers, shopper segments, and retail formats.
• Partner with Marketing and Sales teams to translate brand and product strategies into actionable go-to-market plans.
• Develop channel-, format-, and customer-specific commercial strategies aligned with shopper missions and retailer objectives.
• Evaluate marketplace trends, consumer behavior, retailer strategies, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and risks.
• Provide insight-based recommendations regarding assortment, pricing, promotion, distribution, merchandising, and customer investments.
• Serve as the primary business owner of category, consumer, shopper, customer, and marketplace insights.
• Lead synthesis of syndicated data, primary research, retailer data, digital shelf analytics, and competitive intelligence.
• Partner closely with Marketing leaders to identify knowledge gaps and prioritize research initiatives.
• Manage external research agency partners, including project scoping, execution oversight, and delivery of actionable outputs.
• Support development of consumer, shopper, and category learning plans.
• Translate research findings into strategic recommendations and business actions.
• Monitor consumer trends, shopper behaviors, retailer dynamics, and competitive activity.
• Support innovation development and commercialization through insights generation and marketplace assessment.
• Support development and execution of annual trade marketing priorities and customer activation plans.
• Manage customer and channel promotional calendars and provide recommendations to maximize effectiveness.
• Evaluate promotional performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Partner with Sales, Revenue Growth Management, and Finance teams to support trade investment decisions.
• Lead development of commercial toolkits, strategic selling materials, activation frameworks, and customer-facing playbooks.
• Develop compelling concept sell stories, category stories, and business recommendations grounded in insights.
• Create customer-ready presentations supporting innovation launches and strategic business reviews.
• Own syndicated data resources and category reporting for Infant Nutrition.
• Serve as the primary expert on Circana, NielsenIQ, retailer POS reporting, Profitero, and related platforms.
• Develop and maintain category, customer, competitive, and marketplace reporting.
• Develop dashboards and scorecards covering Distribution, Velocity, Retail Execution, Pricing, Share of Shelf, Promotional Effectiveness, and Market Share.
• Track competitor pricing, assortment, promotions, merchandising activities, and omnichannel execution.
• Present performance updates and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Revenue Growth Management, Finance, Supply Chain, and Customer Teams.
• Support development of analytical capabilities across commercial teams.
• Contribute to scalable reporting and insights processes that support future team expansion.
• May provide leadership, coaching, and development support to future analyst resources.

Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in Commercial Strategy, Category Management, Consumer Insights, Shopper Insights, Trade Marketing, Customer Development, Revenue Growth Management, or related CPG functions.
• Experience managing or partnering with external consumer or shopper research agencies.
• Experience translating quantitative and qualitative research into business recommendations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and syndicated data tools.
• Experience utilizing Circana, NielsenIQ, Profitero, retailer data platforms, or similar tools.
