Description

If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career to lead and grow our Civil Division at Popli Design Group (PDG), then this is the opportunity for you!

This group manager will be responsible for the day-to-day workings of the group, including but not limited to, staff mentoring, Quality Assurance, maintaining schedules, assist with maintaining backlog, timesheet reviews, staff reviews, recommending staff changes (adding or reducing staff), support with business development/proposal development, and financial success of the group. Shall understand their Division's S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, & Threats) and make recommendations to further their success.

Responsibilities:

Financials:
  • Support the buildings leadership team in the development of the Civil Group budget
  • Assist with the backlog and recommend corrective actions
  • Reviews, develops and recommends corrections to the utilization
  • Supports the buildings leadership team in the development of financial targets
  • Identifies potential issues with financial targets and recommends corrective actions
  • Holds group PMs accountable for financial success of their projects
  • Ensures group billing reports are completed and returned and holds staff accountable if necessary
  • Review timesheets of the group


Technical/Quality & Standards:
  • Serve as the senior technical resource for civil/site engineering projects.
  • Responsible for signing and sealing documents
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Civil Engineering staff
  • Supports the development & implementation of a BDS standard
  • Supports the development & implementation of a QA/QC process
  • Ensure all deliverables have a QC review completed prior to issuance
  • Ensure all deliverables utilize the BDS & Discipline standards
  • Support permitting and approval processes as required.


Staff Needs/Accountability
  • Host Bi-Monthly division meetings
  • Support Project Managers with project planning, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate Civil Engineering activities with other disciplines, clients, municipalities, agencies, and utility providers.
  • Deliver end of year salary performance and incentive comp to staff
  • Perform annual reviews of staff and set annual professional goals
  • Be available for all major project related issues
  • Manage group training requirements
  • Relay company/professional development training needs (PM, presentation, Revit training, etc.) to Director
  • Monitor current and upcoming workload and recommend staffing assignments
  • Perform divisional recruiting (inc. review resumes, interviews, work with HR, write offer letters, fill out employee initiation forms, perform new hire tours, etc)

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • AutoDesk (Civil 3d)
  • Estimating Software (Costworks)
  • Specification writing software (SpecPoint)
  • Newforma


Education, Certification & Experience:
  • BS in Civil Engineering (Required)
  • NY State Licensed Professional Engineer (Required)
  • 10+ Years of Civil/Site design experience with state agencies (DASNY, OGS, SUCF), healthcare, higher education and K-12 education as well as local municipalities. (Required)
  • CPESC, LEED AP, and/or ENV SP certification a plus.
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) (Required).


Good faith salary range is provided, and salary package will be commensurate with experience.
