MANAGER, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

In our organization, the Manager, Business Development has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments. Having primary responsibility for plans and policies related to business development activities for Oil States Piper (OSI-OKC) as well as responsibility for advising the business unit's strategic sales & marketing plan, this position is also responsible for coordinating and expediting the business unit's growth program through formation of strategic alliances and licensing agreements under the guidelines set by the VP - Valve Technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute business plans and programs, as directed, both short and long range, to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of OSI-OKC products and services.
  • Ensure OSI-OKC is included and qualified in applicable Approved Vendor Lists as needed to execute growth opportunities.
  • Interact with business development groups throughout Oil States International to ensure the OSI-OKC business unit is well informed of business development activities in our respective markets.
  • Conduct successful negotiations, contract development, due diligence and other business development or alliance development projects as may be required.
  • Interact with Authorized Representatives in the field to identify and prioritize new business prospects, whether a new customer, new product application, or new geographical location, utilizing various sources. Provide additional training to Authorized Representatives in the identification and targeting of new prospects as needed.
  • Work in concert with the Sales department and VP - Valve Technology to develop relationships with the appropriate decision-makers within targeted companies and/or geographic locations.
  • Provide timely and informative status reports on all prospects and competitive developments through frequent communications with the Sales department and VP - Valve Technology. Participate in weekly meetings with the Sales department and VP - Valve Technology when possible.
  • Enhance Company exposure by representing OSI-OKC at industry functions, including trade shows and other Oil States International marketing programs.
  • Responsible for the design and updates of OSI-OKC website and participation in development of sales and marketing literature such as brochures, product bulletins, etc.
  • Assist the Sales department with effective training of Sales Agents regarding products manufactured at OSI-OKC.
  • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform critical data analysis and develop sound financial and business recommendations based on data and market knowledge and experience.
  • Ensure that every aspect of the OSI-OKC business development activities incorporates the vision, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete a broad variety of projects and proposals.
  • Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.
  • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time frame.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.
  • Follow and support established HSE programs.
  • Report any unsafe situations to appropriate team members as necessary.
  • All other duties or tasks as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated knowledge of compact ball valves and all other products manufactured by OSI-OKC.
  • Be able to make effective sales presentations to potential customers.
  • Exceptional networking and business relationship skills and abilities.
  • Ability to identify and develop prospects through a variety of sources.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a thorough knowledge of OSI-OKC products.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with people.
  • Strong problem-solving and business acumen skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field or equivalent.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in direct sales in the manufacturing or oil & gas industry.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role in a Sales environment.
  • Must obtain and maintain Authorized Driver status as defined by the Oil States Company Vehicles and Drivers policy.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Extended driving, walking, sitting, and/or standing.
  • Frequent domestic overnight travel required.
  • Occasional international overnight travel.


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Frequent use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, printer, and telephone.
  • Frequent use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to ERP, employee time tracking software, and office productivity software packages.
  • Regular need to drive company vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes.


QUALITY/CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPLICATIONS

  • Directly impacts workplace safety through active participation in OSI-OKC Piper HSE programs and safe work practices.
  • Directly impacts customer satisfaction through direct and indirect customer communications, communication response times, product offerings, pricing, and delivery terms.


SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
