Summary

The ES Plus and Balane of Plant (BOP) Manager will be responsible for leading the extended scope engineering solution by providing technical and commercial deliverables related to power generation projects beyond packaged solutions. The position is supported by a team of engineers skilled in technical design, system optimization cost estimation, and project execution. The position will also interface and manage 3rd parties, such as Engineering Service Companies or EPC's to complete the front end engineering design (FEED) on-time and on-budget and assist in commercial negotiations of vendor and customer contracts. The goal of the FEED is to enhance overall Enerflex value proposition, control our desired scope of supply, and facilitate the next steps for customers related to equipment installation by reducing uncertainty.

Customers are typically end users in oil and gas, datacenters, petrochemical, and industrial markets. The equipment we package is primarily reciprocating engine generator sets under 5 MW. The Balance of Plant scope of supply may include electrical switchgear, transformers, heat exchangers, absorption chillers, Waste Heat Recovery unit (WHRU), auxiliary system, sound attenuated buildings, fluids storage and other items associated with power islands and microgrids. FEED studies may include multi-unit equipment layouts, CFD studies, sound studies, installation estimates, installation schedules, dynamic load studies, and material take-offs.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Establish and grow a Power Generation BOP team to design and deliver natural gas engine based microgrids under a EPCM execution model when it is considered strategic. Some engineering resources may be shared with existing groups.
  • Manage internal and external resources to deliver designs, drawings and specifications related to the Installation and BOP of microgrids on-schedule, and on-budget
  • Assist in contract negotiations with EPCs or third party engineering
  • Develop and establish engineering standards and reference designs related to microgrid BOP
  • Liaison with applications engineers and EPCs to develop and submit proposals to the customers.
  • Review third-party proposals, engineering specifications, and designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Work directly with engine OEM engineering teams to understand interface requirements
  • Assure the projects are executed to customer and company satisfaction.
  • Travel and work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends as required
  • Lead, mentor and train the power generation BOP team
  • Abide by and promote company HSE policy

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel on occasion.
