OverviewJob PurposeThe Senior Associate shall apply comprehensive commercial and market understanding of the businesses in assisting in the daily management and operations of our US assets (excludes ERCOT and New Mexico assets) in coordination with the Director of Asset Management, Regional Directors and Facility Managers, Performance Management, Energy Management, Accounting, Finance, Tax, Insurance and other key functions of the company. He or she shall assist, guide, and at times lead subject matter experts to manage all commercial aspects of the assets effectively, while ensuring compliance with all project agreements, regulatory and legal requirements. He or she shall apply critical thinking and strong analytical skills, to help assess the strategic fit of our assets, and identify opportunities for value creation, including through repowers, restructurings and M&A transactions.
Key Accountabilities
- Utilizing knowledge and understanding of project documents, finance, environmental, regulatory, tax, insurance and other key aspects of the business, the Senior Associate proactively inserts herself/himself as the point person with respect to day-to-day routine commercial and financial considerations. He or she is expected to interact with groups across all areas of the company and key external counterparties in the performance of his or her job. This requires taking initiative to drive value accretive positive outcomes for the project as well as to respond to requests. From time to time, he or she should report to the Director to keep him or her apprised.
- Understands asset valuations both short-term and long-term, including opportunities for cash optimization. This includes preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, as well as conducting reviews of financial models and providing valuation guidance as applicable. Requires a working level knowledge of financial models.
- Prepares accurate monthly reports for key external stakeholders, coordinates with Portfolio Finance to address requests from financial partners, including Preferred Equity, Tax Equity, Equity Partners, and lenders. Assists with preparation of compliance reports. To perform this function, he or she must be familiar with key terms and conditions of our financing and partnership agreements.
- Leads routine commercial matters with PPA counterparties and assists Director with more complex PPA contract issues, including providing guidance to or seeking advice from Revenue Accounting, Legal, Tax, Procurement, or other areas of the company.
- Proactively looks for threats to and opportunities for assets or proposed projects and executes on them with guidance and support from the Director. Tracks progress via the Threats & Opportunities tool. Works closely with the Director to organize biannual asset meetings on a rotational basis aimed at discussing strategic considerations for the assets.
- Assists or leads special projects as needed, such as M&A transactions, transition of new projects from development and construction to operations, process improvement projects, or asset value enhancement projects including repowers and commercial restructurings.
Educational Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field is required.
Required Work Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial management and/or financial analysis with at least one year experience in energy assets.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
