Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality performance of daily workflows and timely completion of assignments
  • Maximize efficiencies in systems like ZIP, D365, and Concur, while identifying automation opportunities
  • Serve as a liaison among various departments for technical and analytical requirements
  • Participate in budgeting and goal-setting for the department
  • Review and approve AP transactions and reconciliations
  • Lead a reporting team, fostering collaboration and continual improvement
  • Drive transformation and automation for reporting accuracy and efficiency
  • Coordinate with Technology and Operations on IT implementations and enhancements

Full Job Description

Operational Leadership & Process Management

  • Implement effective operational processes and leads cross-functional process improvement work groups to enhance AP, intercompany, investment, and banking workflows.

  • Ensures effective daily workflows, monitors quality performance measures, and confirms timely completion of work assignments such as invoice processing, payment JEs, wire releases, reconciliations, and accruals.

  • Maximizes system efficiencies across ZIP, D365, Concur, and bank platforms; identifies automation opportunities and leads UAT/testing efforts.

  • Serves as the technical, business, and analytical liaison with FP&A, Procurement, Payroll, Investment, and IT system owners.

  • Participates in departmental budgeting and goal-setting processes.

  • Serves as a hands-on reviewer/approver for AP transactions, intercompany files, investment JEs, reconciliations, and statutory schedules.

  • Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing reporting team, setting clear expectations, building technical depth, and fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive reporting transformation, automation, and process optimization initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and scalability across the accounting close cycle, including Treasury Management collaboration, Accounts Payables, through shared service model relationships

  • Partner with Technology, Operations, and Finance stakeholders on IT implementations, reporting platform enhancements, data architecture decisions, and system integrations to ensure statutory, Canadian Branch, and management reporting requirements are embedded into design, testing, controls, and post-implementation governance.

  • Establish meaningful metrics, timelines, and review cadences to monitor filing readiness, regulatory deliverables, control performance, and team execution against priorities.

  • Supports project initiatives includingbaking and GL systemimplementations andenhancements.

  • Coordinates with external auditors (EY) on AP and investment-related audit request

  • A proven ability to lead and thrive through change and creative problem solving.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor27s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred

  • 5-7+ years of progressive accounting, regulatory reporting, or insurance finance experience, including experience within the P&C insurance industry.

  • Experience building and improving control environments, reporting calendars, review processes, and scalable reporting operating models.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting matters, and financial results to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing, developing, and motivating teams through complex reporting cycles and organizational change.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner on IT implementations, reporting automation, data integration, user acceptance testing, control design, and post-implementation stabilization from a finance and regulatory reporting perspective.

  • Proficiency with statutory reporting, general ledger, close management, and reporting automation tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master27s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.

  • Experience leading finance transformation, reporting automation, system implementation, data integration, or process redesign initiatives, including the ability to translate reporting requirements into technology and control requirements.

  • Familiarity with GAAP andSSAPreporting standards and the ability to bridge statutory, management, and other reporting perspectives.
