RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS: THERE ARE NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THIS EXAMINATION. There is one vacancy at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation.The technologist salary is $78,250 - $84,228 annually and the trainee salary starts $76,198-$82,006 annually.

If you pass the examination, your name will appear on the continuous eligible list for one year. After one year, your name will be removed from the list. You may apply for retest at six month intervals.

A Mammography Technologist/Trainee maintaining and operating imaging equipment and assisting in the performance of specialized radiographic studies and scans with primary work responsibility for the conduct of mammographic procedures and bone density exams for the purpose of detecting pathology at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC);
Communicates with Radiologist to confirm required exam details and observes protocols and evaluates images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed;
Performs diagnostic general radiography exams including but not limited to pain management;
Sets up radiologic room for special procedures and prepares the necessary needles, guide wires, biopsy sets, contrast media, anesthetic, etc. required for the study; Assists physicians in sterile technique;
Coordinates the scheduling of patients with transport, operating room, patient floors, outside referrals and the Radiology Department;

Performs bone density densitometry exams and positions patients safely while scanning proper anatomy in correlation with patient history;
Ensures images are properly marked as right or left side and labeled with date and patient identification;
Assists in training technologists/students and assists in their transition to the work environment as assigned;
Works within the Federal Mammography Quality Standards Act guidelines;
Maintains competency in mammography and radiologic technology procedures and protocols;
Performs quality control procedures and implements corrective actions when appropriate;
Maintains required accreditations, certifications and licenses. Ensures compliance with ECMCC policy and regulatory guidelines;
Assists senior staff in activities associated with performance improvement, quality initiatives, The Joint Commission, Department of Health, FDA and Mammography Quality Standards Act accreditation;

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of application:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MAMMOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST (Job Grade Rad Scale 3): Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology and possess a license and two (2) years of experience as a radiologic technologist, one (1) year of which included working with mammographic procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MAMMOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST TRAINEE (Job Grade Rad Scale 2): Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist. Then, after completion of the one (1) year training term and completion of special requirements, a trainee candidate shall be entitled to advance to permanent status as a Mammography Technologist (Job Group Rad Scale 3) without further examination.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EITHER:
Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Radiologic Technologist as issued by the New York State Department of Health at the time of application, appointment and throughout continued employment; and
Possession of Certification in Mammography under the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 at the time of permanent appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment; and
Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification at time of permanent appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment; and
Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an ECMCC approved provider at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.

SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

In your summary of training include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license. Specify the date that your license was first issued.

In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Plan Details:

• Value Plan (POS 204): This is the default plan for all employees hired after January 1, 2018. These employees are required to contribute 15% of the plan's premium through pre-tax payroll deductions.

PAID TIME OFF

• Holidays: 11 paid holidays annually.
• Vacation Leave:
  1. Starts at 10 days per year, increases to up to 30 days with seniority.
  2. Can be accrued up to 20 days; unused vacation is payable upon separation.
  3. Up to 60 hours of unused vacation time can be sold back annually, subject to minimum balance requirements.
• Sick Leave:

RETIREMENT

New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System

• Eligible full-time employees are enrolled in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System (ERS), administered by the Office of the State Comptroller. An employee's tier is determined by their date of membership; employees who joined on or after April 1, 2012, are classified as Tier 6 members.
• Tier 6 members are required to contribute between 3% and 6
