Full Job Description
The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality breast imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, regulatory requirements, and established clinical protocols. Responsibilities include screening and diagnostic mammography, contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), stereotactic breast biopsies, patient education, and support throughout the imaging and biopsy process. The Mammography Technologist is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring image quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency.

This full-time position offers hiring bonuses - $5,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance (for non-local candidates).

Responsibilities

Mammography Services
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Obtain high-quality breast images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Review images for quality and completeness prior to patient discharge.
  • Adhere to MQSA, ACR, FDA, state, and facility regulations and standards.
  • Educate patients regarding mammography procedures and answer questions regarding the imaging process.

Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM)
  • Perform Contrast Enhanced Mammography studies according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, radiologists, and providers to ensure safe administration and monitoring of contrast-enhanced procedures.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast agents and respond appropriately.
  • Maintain competency and certification requirements related to CEM imaging.

Breast Biopsy Procedures
  • Assist physicians and radiologists with stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, and contrast-enhanced breast biopsy procedures.
  • Prepare equipment, procedure rooms, and supplies for biopsy procedures.
  • Provide patient education regarding biopsy preparation, expectations, and post-procedure care.
  • Monitor patient condition during and after procedures.
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation.

Patient Care
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and compassionate patient care.
  • Assess patient needs and provide emotional support throughout the imaging and biopsy process.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate infection prevention and control practices.

Documentation and Quality Assurance
  • Accurately document procedures and patient information in electronic medical records and radiology systems.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of mammography equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and assist with accreditation activities.

Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, breast surgeons, nurse navigators, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
  • Support workflow efficiency and patient access initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuing education activities.


Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences required.
  • Current ARRT, CRT, and CPR certifications are required.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and professional excellence.
