Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Superintendent supervises maintenance programs, processes, and personnel in a wood products manufacturing facility. Personnel in the Maintenance Department including an electrical supervisor, planner/schedule, maintenance supervisor, millwrights, mechanics, electricians and oilers.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise daily, weekly, and other periodic mechanical repair and maintenance for the facility.
  • Lead a safe working environment:
    • train workers on safety, repair, maintenance techniques, operational procedures, and equipment use.
    • motivate employees to lead the operation to superior safety performance.
    • engage in continuing education and improvement to processes and work procedures.
    • lead safety behavior by example.
  • Actively engage in improving maintenance programs and planning and scheduling functions.
  • Identify capital improvements and provide project management for capital projects.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Promote communication between departments to ensure alignment of maintenance needs and priorities.
  • Review employee time and attendance reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required by Operations Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor maintenance staff.
    • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
    • Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.

Education and Experience:
  • Prior experience as a maintenance superintendent, maintenance supervisor or maintenance lead in a wood products manufacturing facility, including work on sawmill machinery, steam systems, kilns, boilers, dust collection, and fire prevention systems.
  • Experience using maintenance management software preferred (CMMS).
  • Working knowledge of effective preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies and processes.
  • Project management experience preferred.

Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must always wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.

Salary DOE ($115k-$130k)
