Description
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Shop Manager to oversee daily operations at our Johnston, RI shop. You will ensure that equipment is maintained safely and efficiently, ready to support pipeline rehabilitation projects. Reporting to the Equipment Manager, you will lead the Rhode Island mechanics, manage maintenance and repair activities, and collaborate with operations and vendors to maximize equipment uptime, control costs, and support team development.
The annual salary is $85,000-$100,000 per year based on experience.

What You'll Do
Lead the mechanic team by assigning daily tasks, setting clear expectations, and promoting a safe and productive work environment.
Plan and coordinate maintenance and repairs to keep equipment safe and reliable for daily operations.
Collaborate with field teams to anticipate equipment needs, prioritize repairs, and minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, using your mechanical knowledge to identify problems and ensure repairs are completed correctly.
Coordinate with vendors and outside repair shops to manage repairs, track progress, and ensure equipment needs are met.
Review repair estimates and maintenance costs and recommend practical repair or replacement solutions.
Maintain up-to-date maintenance records and work orders, including invoices, purchasing records, and equipment documentation.
Keep the shop and yard clean, safe, and organized, including tools, parts, equipment, and supplies.
Communicate regularly with the Equipment Manager about equipment availability, staffing, priorities, and issues that need attention.
Identify opportunities to improve shop and equipment operations for efficiency, reliability, and cost control.
Support equipment transfers, rentals, disposals, and replacements as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Need From You
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in equipment maintenance, fleet operations, shop supervision, or a related field, with strong mechanical knowledge.
Previous experience leading mechanics or maintenance teams, or demonstrated ability to prioritize work and coordinate maintenance activities.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical maintenance instructions.
Strong computer, organizational, and recordkeeping skills, with the ability to learn and use maintenance and fleet management systems.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, productive, and accountable work environment.
Previous shop management or lead mechanic experience and/or ASE certification is a plus.
Class A or Class B CDL is a plus, but not required.
Experience with specialized pipeline rehabilitation equipment, such as boilers, jetters, CCTV systems, or robotics, is a plus.
Familiarity with Holman, JDE, or similar fleet maintenance and purchasing systems is a plus.
Military or law enforcement experience with transferable leadership, technical, or operational skills is a plus.
