Northrop Grumman Space Systems- Propulsion Division is currently looking for a MaintenanceReliability Engineer / Principal Engineer to join our Tooling and Facilities Engineering group supporting our manufacturing operations at our Case Manufacturing facility located in the Bacchus Facility, near Magna, Utah. This position will occasionally support the Clearfield, Copper Crossing, and Promontory locations. Candidate must be willing to travel to all 4 campuses and be on site.

Description & responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer, you will specialize in various types of automated electrical/mechanical components and manufacturing equipment/facilities. Review existing manufacturing equipment and become completely familiar with the OEM's manufacturing build protocol as it relates to machine function. Provide emphasis to ensure that the correct preventative maintenance procedures are in place for the electrical and mechanical systems, and recommend all critical spare parts to keep the plant operational 24/7. Develop and implement machine monitoring strategies to support the reliability-centered maintenance program to predict machine failures before they happen using vibration, temperature, and other variable analysis. This position works to ensure that all manufacturing equipment performs at its ultimate performance level and maintains a high level of machine uptime. There is considerable latitude for independent action and decision-making. You will support our current facility and allow it to grow to the next level of operations and production. You will prepare presentations and reports detailing the Operational Equipment Effectiveness on assets you support. You will aid in developing standard specifications for future equipment purchases.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

Level 2
  • Bachelors degree in STEM, with a minimum 2 years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 0 years with a Master's (Principal level requires 5 years with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's degree; or 0 years with a PhD).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, or manufacturing facilities support/maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Ability to negotiate and consult with vendors as required to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.

Level 3
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, with a minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or 1 year with a PhD.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, or manufacturing facilities support/maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Ability to negotiate and consult with vendors as required to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Reliability Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of reliability concepts ( MTTR, MTBF, probability of failure, condition monitoring, etc.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM and equipment failure data analysis.
  • Experience with Ignition, Canary, or other Industrial IoT technology.
  • Understanding of CAPEX engineering projects or equipment installation.
  • Experience with equipment and control systems, including Allen Bradley, FANUC, and Siemens.
  • Experience in installing, commissioning, supporting, or maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • A current DoD Secret/Top Secret clearance with capability for SAP access.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing operation.


Primary Level Salary Range: $89,000.00 - $109,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $109,000.00 - $135,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
