Full Job Description
NATURE OF DUTIES:

The Maintenance Planning & Work Management Superintendent Role Provides leadership and direction for maintenance planning, scheduling, work execution processes, and continuous improvement of maintenance work practices. Responsible for supervising Maintenance Planners and ensuring maintenance resources are deployed efficiently through effective planning, scheduling, backlog management, and work management processes.Works closely with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and Maintenance Supervisors to improve asset reliability and maintenance productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Management Leadership
  • Own the site's maintenance work management process.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance planning and scheduling standards.
  • Ensure compliance with work management procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain a prioritized maintenance backlog.
Planning & Scheduling
  • Direct and coach Maintenance Planners.
  • Ensure work orders are properly scoped and planned.
  • Verify labor estimates, materials, permits, and procedures are in work packages.
  • Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinate weekly maintenance schedules with Operations.
  • Manage shutdown and turnaround planning activities.
Maintenance Process Improvement
  • Improve planned versus reactive work ratios.
  • Increase schedule compliance.
  • Improve wrench time and labor productivity.
  • Reduce emergency work.
  • Standardize maintenance planning practices across departments.
Backlog Management
  • Monitor maintenance backlog health.
  • Establish backlog prioritization processes.
  • Ensure critical equipment work receives appropriate priority.
  • Identify aging work orders and drive resolution
KPI Management
  • Develop and report metrics including:
  • Schedule Compliance
  • PM Compliance
  • Reactive Work %
  • Planned Work %
  • Emergency Work %
  • Maintenance Backlog
  • Planning Accuracy
  • Wrench Time
  • Maintenance Cost Performance
Reliability Support
  • Partner with Reliability Engineers to:
  • Address repeat failures.
  • Improve PM effectiveness.
  • Develop maintenance strategies.
  • Support root cause investigations.
Organizational Development
  • Develop planner competencies.
  • Standardize planning procedures.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure planners maintain high-quality work packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.


About You:

You should possess:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with 7 or more years of related experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment preferred.

This position requires strong engineering skills with knowledge of process equipment including pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessel, metallurgy considerations, exchangers, instrumented systems, and relief valves. This position must work closely with all levels of plant personnel to maintain equipment performance. The incumbent must be technically sound, result-oriented, decisive, and have good human relation skills. The incumbent must also possess a thorough knowledge of processes and systems used for managing mechanical integrity, plant reliability, and the execution of work A strong understanding of SAP is preferred but not necessary.

Schedule/Hours

This is a salaried, exempt position with typical work hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., M - F.
