OverviewThe Maintenance and Process Manager will review plans, direct and coordinate the maintenance and the process engineering activities of the plant. Maintenance activities include establishing and carrying out a preventative maintenance program and the corrective maintenance of all production and service equipment, buildings and grounds. Process engineering activities include leading the qualification process, troubleshooting events and continuous improvement projects.
Plans, specifies and recommends any equipment or facilities revisions or modifications. Initiates and directs capital projects. Writes capital funding requests as required, including costs and technical specifications. Accurately records and reports activities and results. Coordinates all plant activities that involve the Division Engineering Group. Works with production units to maintain and improve plant efficiency, productivity, and processes, as well as product quality. Specify and directs activities of outside contractors and vendors.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, develop, and manage the Maintenance and Engineering teams, including Maintenance Technicians, Process Engineers, and other technical personnel.
- Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and development plans aligned with plant objectives.
- Coach, train, and retain highly skilled maintenance and engineering personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety and continuous improvement.
Maintenance & Reliability Management
- Develop and execute preventative, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability and performance.
- Establish maintenance strategies that improve Overall Equipment EFFECTIVENESS (OEE), REDUCE DOWNTIME, AND OPTIMIZE MAINTENANCE COSTS.
- Lead root cause failure analyses and corrective action efforts related to equipment and process issues.
- Monitor and improve KPIs including:
- Equipment uptime
- Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
- Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
- Preventive Maintenance Compliance
- Maintenance Cost Performance
- Ensure timely and effective response to equipment breakdowns and operational issues
- Manage maintenance planning and scheduling activities to minimize production disruptions.
Engineering and Process Improvement
- Lead process engineering efforts focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement equipment and process improvements.
- Support product commercialization, process validation, and manufacturing optimization initiatives
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting complex manufacturing and equipment-related issues.
- Develop engineering standards and ensure compliance with company engineering practices
Capital Projects Management
- Develop, justify, prioritize, and execute capital projects from concepts through startup and project closeout.
- Prepare capital request, cost estimates, project scopes, and technical specifications.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, contractor activities and project risks.
- Coordinate project execution with Corporate Engineering, Operations, Finance, Purchasing and EHS
- Ensure successful equipment installations, upgrades, and startup activities.
Facilities and Utilities Management
- Maintain responsibility for all plant infrastructure and utility systems, including:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Compressed air systems
- Chillers and colling systems
- HVAC systems
- Water systems
- Boiler and other utility equipment
- Ensure plant facilities and grounds are maintained in safe and efficient operating condition
- Identify opportunities for energy reduction and utility cost optimization.
Automation and Controls
- Provide leadership and support for automation and controls systems
- Oversee troubleshooting and upgrades related to PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, drivers sensors, and control systems.
- Support modernization initiatives and implementation of new automation technologies.
- Collaborate with internal and external resources on control systems improvements.
Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and company policies and procedures.
- Lead maintenance and engineering safety initiatives
- Support machine guarding, LOTO, Confined space, electrical safety, and contractor safety programs
- Ensure all required environmental, safety, and regulatory records and reports are accurately maintained.

Maintenance System and Assets Management
- Own and administer the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure accurate asset records, word order management, preventative maintenance scheules and maintenance reporting
- Develop and maintain critical spare parts inventories
- Analyze asset performance and develop long term equipment replacement strategies
Vendor Contract Management
- Develop specification and scope of work documents for contractors and vendors
- Manage contractors selection, performance, safety compliance, and project execution
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality service and cost effective support
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Lean Certification, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PMP Certification and Reliability Certification preferred
- 7-10 + years of progressive maintenance and engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including supervisor experience
- 3-5 + years of leadership experience managing maintenance, process engineering, or reliability teams.
- Experience leading capital projects from concept through implementation
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Strong background in manufacturing equipment, utilities, automation, and process improvement
- Experience working within budgetary and capital planning processes

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.
- Frequent walking, standing, and working on or around production lines.
- Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Occasional work in elevated or confined areas as part of inspections or troubleshooting.
- Occasional after-hours support may be required for emergencies, shutdowns, and capital project activities.
EFFORT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to work in both office and manufacturing environments
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, elevated nose levels, and varying environmental conditions.
- Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods.
