Low Voltage Controls Engineer in
Charlotte, NC.
Roles and Responsibilities The job duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Interpret job specifications and mechanical/electrical drawings to create design control drawings to meet project sequence of operations.
- Be proficient in the use of in-house engineering systems and documentation to aid in responding to inquiries for product details.
- Daily interaction with field personnel providing guidance on the application and installation of assigned projects in HVAC systems.
- Interaction with field personnel must include systems applications advice, creative solutions to unique customer needs and use of competitor knowledge to create advantages.
- Participate in the development of tools and documentation to support field as well as automate processes to support common inquiries.
- Be proficient in Auto-Cad software and p repare accurate layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams using CAD software and equipment details.
- Effectively communicate and follow-up with sales personnel, design engineers, and product management teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and responses are efficiently executed.
- Assist and counsel sales personnel in resolving equipment/job/code challenges.
- Obtain supplier quotations to communicate costs and lead time for special product requests.
- Participate in product team meetings to plan and implement business development opportunities.
- Guide and support the efforts of other Application Engineers, Project managers and Sales staff.
- Demonstrate an elevated level of knowledge of products (Johnson controls. Honeywell, Siemens or competitor's technologies and their effect on the business.
- Ability to perform successfully in a multifunctional-team-work environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strict adherence to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
- Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices.
- Produce detailed coordination drawings for use by project managers and installation teams.
- Provide oversight, direction, and support to Project Management and Field Teams for integrating CAD standards and procedures into the project.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical documents and diagrams including work instructions, manuals, specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
- Work from rough sketches and specifications created by sales and preconstruction teams.
- Assemble product submittal and owner's manual for projects and distribute it to Project Managers for approval by project design teams.
- Assist sales with bid presentation BAS network layouts as needed.
- Complete as-built revision markups and distribute to appropriate parties (Project Managers, customers, etc.)
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the engineering manager as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements - BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or associate's degree in engineering technology, or related science or completion of a technical school program.
- Minimum of 5-10 years in engineering control systems for the HVAC industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in Honeywell, Siemens or Johnson Controls product lines is preferred.
- Experience in HAVC control system design for healthcare, education, and industrial facilities a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and drawing skills.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
