Our Pekin campus produces products destined for Health, Home& Beauty; Food and Beverage; Industry & Agriculture; Essential Ingredients; and Renewable Fuels markets. All personnel are responsible for the safety of these products, which includes participation in training, following cGMP and feed/food safety requirements in the facility, and following procedures per instruction of management.

Opportunity Overview: Alto Ingredients is seeking a hands-on logistics leader to help drive safe, efficient, and customer-focused execution across the Pekin campus. This is a visible leadership opportunity for a candidate who thrives in a complex manufacturing environment, can align people and processes across multiple operating units, and wants to influence performance across truck, rail, barge, grain receiving, alcohol loadout, co-product movement, and warehouse operations.

Job Purpose: The Pekin Campus Logistics Manager is a high-impact leadership role responsible for safely and reliably moving critical products and raw materials across one of Alto Ingredients' most complex and strategically important manufacturing campuses. This leader will oversee logistics for the Pekin Corn Wet Mill, Pekin Dry Mill, and ICP Distillery, including the movement of ethanol, specialty alcohol products, co-products, DDGS, and incoming grain by truck, rail, and barge. The role requires strong operational discipline, safety leadership, labor relations capability, and cross-functional coordination with commercial, operations, maintenance, engineering, quality, and environmental teams. The successful candidate will lead a unionized workforce represented by the UFCW and USW, strengthen training and standard work, improve reliability and execution, and ensure logistics plans support customer commitments, plant performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of alcohol, co-products, DDGS, and incoming corn across the Pekin campus.
  • Set clear expectations for safe work practices, environmental compliance, product quality, housekeeping, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the key link between operations and commercial teams to ensure production, inventory, shipment, and customer delivery plans are understood, achievable, and executed.
  • Directly oversee workforce while coordinating truck, railcar, alcohol, barge, and DDGS loadout activity for the campus.
  • Maintain accurate rail movement records, daily tracking tools, shipment documentation, and position reporting to support operational visibility and decision-making.
  • Partner with maintenance to prioritize preventive maintenance, repair equipment, resolve breakdowns, and improve reliability of rail infrastructure, loading/unloading systems, and support equipment.
  • Work with engineering and plant leadership on improvement projects involving grain receiving, DDG loadout, alcohol transfer, alcohol loadout, storage, and material handling systems.
  • Generate daily Pekin Campus position reports, instructions, and communications for the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop direct reports; assign work, monitor performance, provide feedback, and motivate employees to achieve strong safety, quality, reliability, and productivity results.
  • Manage departmental supplies, inventory, and equipment needs to ensure logistics teams have the resources required to execute safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, quality assurance programs, safety standards, and site operating requirements.
  • Coordinate with plant department managers to optimize campus operations and support facility goals, customer requirements, and company performance expectations.
  • Participate in the development and administration of annual operating plans, fiscal budgets, cost controls, outage plans, and capital improvement proposals.
  • Communicate regularly with senior operations leadership regarding performance, risks, opportunities, staffing needs, and improvement priorities.
  • Support employee hiring, onboarding, training, development, coaching, and equitable resolution of personnel issues.
  • Maintain and strengthen plant compliance systems and certifications, including HACCP, GMP, ICH Q7, ISO 9001:2015, EXCiPACT, Kosher certifications, AIB, and AAFCO requirements as applicable to the logistics function.
  • Understand, apply, and administer the Collective Bargaining Agreements with the USW and UFCW in a consistent and constructive manner.
  • Participate in monthly Labor Management meetings with USW and UFCW Executive Board representatives to support productive working relationships and effective issue resolution.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; engineering, operations management, supply chain, logistics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 15+ years of plant operations, logistics, manufacturing, supply chain, or related industrial experience, including 10+ years of leadership and people management experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a complex manufacturing environment with truck, rail, barge, warehouse, grain receiving, alcohol, chemical, food-grade, pharmaceutical-grade, or regulated product movement preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage maintenance, reliability, operations, or logistics programs that improve safety, compliance, uptime, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Strong understanding of facility safety programs, environmental compliance, PSM/RMP requirements, and disciplined operating systems.
  • Experience working in or supporting a unionized environment preferred.
  • Training or practical experience in root cause analysis, group problem solving, team development, continuous improvement, and change management.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in asset management, budgeting, cost control, capital planning, and profit improvement.
  • Experience partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, quality, commercial, sales, and marketing teams to align logistics execution with business needs.
