Responsibilities

  • Design and build Lola's inbound transportation network and processes from ex-factory to warehouse dock
  • Decide routing and port strategy for each Lola warehouse
  • Define roles and handoffs between vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and warehouses
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, managing day-to-day operations
  • Negotiate ocean rates, contract allocations, and peak-season space
  • Partner with Finance, Production, and Planning for compliance and payment terms

About the Role

We are seeking an experiencedLogistics Manager to establish world-class import and logistics capabilities. Lola wants to rebuild its entire transportation network to establish strong relationships with freight forwarders, create strong operational and logistical processes, manage import, duty, and documentation compliance, and make receiving at warehouses run smoothly. You will ensure that Lola Accounting has the easy ability to review or audit any single shipment. You will partner closely with Lola's vendors, Production team, and Warehouse teams to own the product's journey from ex-factory to in-stock.

Core Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics Management
  • Design and build Lola's inbound transportation network and processes, from ex-factory to warehouse dock
  • Decide routing and port strategy (West Coast vs. East Coast, transload vs. direct, etc.) for each Lola warehouse
  • Define clear roles and handoffs between vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and Lola warehouses
  • Establish and maintain strong forwarder relationships, managing day-to-day operations including regular shipments, scorecards, QBRs, and escalations
  • Negotiate ocean rates, contract allocations, peak-season space, drayage, and accessorials
  • Partner with Finance, Production, and Planning to ensure strong terms and payment compliance
  • Establish accurate dashboarding and reporting of costs and service levels over time; own those budgets and results

Import Compliance & Duty
  • Own importer-of-record compliance in every market we import into: customs brokers, bonds, ISF, entries and duty payment
  • Own HTS classification, country-of-origin documentation, valuation and duty rate accuracy
  • Maintain all import documentation and product compliance documentation; keep audit-ready records and respond to any customs holds, exams, or inquiries

Processes & Documentation
  • Own the inbound playbook: booking, documentation, tracking, reporting, exceptions, claims
  • Maintain accurate shipment visibility from ex-factory to stock, with tracking in our systems and clear ETAs for the business to plan around
  • Keep a clean record for every shipment so Accounting can review or audit anything

Warehouse Receiving
  • Partner with our 3PL warehouses on appointment scheduling, dock capacity and receiving SLAs
  • Plan container flow around seasonal peaks so receiving keeps up with demand
  • Resolve any issues: delays, damage, shortages, and discrepancies
  • Track ex-factory to in-stock lead time and drive it down


This role will report to the Senior Director of Operations. Candidates must be in New York or Utah and need to be hybrid in either office 3 days per week.

Qualifications

  • Deep working knowledge of US customs: ISF, entries, HTS classification, bonds, and duty; Experience importing into Canada and other international markets is a strong plus
  • A track record of selecting, contracting and managing freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Ability to use data, reporting, and systems management to drive cross-team transparency
  • Strong commercial sills: rate negotiation, contract terms, and land-cost modeling
  • Experience working with 3PL warehouses on inbound receiving
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, highly seasonal consumer business
  • Experience working with offshore and intermediate warehousing a plus
