Position Overview
As our Logistics Manager for Manufacturing Start-Up Operations, you will lead the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics operations across multiple manufacturing and warehouse facilities within BWXT Enrichment Operations. You will own all aspects of material flow, warehousing, transportation, receiving, shipping, inventory control, logistics systems, and mobile equipment operations. This role plays a vital leadership role in new factory start-ups, facility expansions, major equipment installations, production launches, and model-change transitions.
You will build and scale logistics operations from the ground up, integrating lean manufacturing principles, automation technologies, and advanced logistics systems to support world-class safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity performance. This position requires strong cross-functional leadership and close collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and external suppliers to ensure uninterrupted material flow through critical-value manufacturing environments.

Your Day to Day as a Logistics Manager• Lead logistics planning, system development, and full implementation for new (greenfield) and expanded (brownfield) manufacturing facilities, including warehouse design, material flow concepts, line-side delivery strategies, and overall facility readiness for Start of Production (SOP).
• Develop end-to-end material flow strategies-from inbound receiving through production delivery and outbound shipping-integrating supermarket, sequencing, kitting, and line-feed operations.
• Support facility master planning, building and infrastructure reviews, utilities planning, and installation/commissioning of logistics equipment during launch and production ramp-up.
• Direct logistics readiness for new product launches, engineering changes, and production transfers, including phase-in/phase-out strategies, service-parts planning, supplier coordination, and launch material control plans.
• Manage inbound logistics, receiving, warehousing, material handling, inventory management, and outbound shipping operations to ensure uninterrupted flow of raw materials, components, packaging, and finished goods.
• Optimize inventory levels and flow through transportation planning, carrier management, network design, third-party logistics oversight, and contingency planning for supply chain disruptions.
• Provide leadership across multiple facilities, standardizing logistics processes, policies, KPIs, performance expectations, and best-practice sharing across all BWXT locations.
• Coordinate inter-facility and inter-company material movements and maintain logistics performance visibility through unified dashboards and KPI reporting systems.
• Develop specifications and lead procurement, evaluation, and lifecycle planning for material-handling equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, tuggers, AGVs/AMRs, racking systems, manipulators, and warehouse automation technologies.
• Drive ergonomic improvements and safe material-presentation methods, conduct ergonomic assessments, and ensure compliance with OSHA, BWXT, and DOE/NNSA requirements while promoting a zero-injury logistics culture.
• Develop and maintain logistics policies, standards, work instructions, and standard operating procedures covering receiving, shipping, inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation, cycle counting, and physical inventories.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, optimize material flow, increase inventory accuracy, and improve warehouse productivity and delivery performance.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of ERP, MRP, WMS, TMS, MES, barcode/RFID, real-time location, and automated inventory-tracking systems; utilize data analytics for decision-making and performance enhancement.
• Lead development of operating budgets, capital plans, business-case justifications, and ROI analyses for logistics investments including automation, warehousing projects, mobile equipment, transportation initiatives, and facility expansions.
• Monitor logistics spending, manage capital project execution, track milestones, evaluate cost-reduction opportunities, and ensure alignment with BWXT financial and operational goals.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive logistics leadership experience in manufacturing environments.
• Minimum 3 years leading logistics operations in automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience supporting multiple facilities, warehouses, or distribution centers.
• Experience with ERP, WMS, MRP, and inventory control systems.
• Strong leadership, project management, and strategic-thinking skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications• Experience leading new factory start-ups or major facility expansions.
• Experience supporting model launches or engineering changes.
• Lean Manufacturing, TPS, or Six Sigma experience.
• APICS/ASCM certification.
• PMP certification.
• MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field.

Pay: $86,450 - $136,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,450 and $136,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
