Litigation Docketing Senior Analyst to provide comprehensive litigation calendaring services to all assigned regional offices and the firm in general, including overseeing calendaring processes and quality assurance for all matters handled by attorneys in in their regional office(s), adhering to calendaring procedures and processes for these matters and facilitating firm compliance with calendaring policies and protocols to minimize the risk of missed deadlines.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for...- Independently calendaring firm litigation, bankruptcy and agency matters and all related deadlines and scheduled events
- Ensuring compliance with all calendaring procedures, best practices and department processes for all matters calendared and worked on
- Maintaining deadlines, events, and docket entries; consistency in following all best practices, procedures, and protocols
- Conducting research on agency, court and judges' rules and assisting attorneys and paralegals with interpretation of those rules
- Responding to requests from attorneys, legal administrative assistants, and paralegals regarding calendared events and deadlines, court procedures, rules and filing processes
- Creating, reviewing, and distributing calendar and case update reports
- Compiling and preparing analysis of data for miscellaneous requests and reports, as needed; performing quality assurance and quality checks on other team members' work, as needed
- Assisting manager in conducting ongoing effective firm training programs and presentations on docketing systems, policies and protocols to attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants
- Assuming lead staff role within the department for coordinating projects and maintaining efficient workflow; assisting with the completion of any department projects, assuming a project lead role, when necessary
The successful candidate will demonstrate...- A minimum of four years of experience working in a Managing Clerk, Managing Attorney Department, and/or Litigation Docketing Department (experience should include substantial knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and procedures and considerable experience computing deadlines in state, federal and appellate courts, including state and federal agencies across the country)
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in litigation processes, court rules and procedures
- Subject matter expert for computing deadlines for state, federal and appellate courts and in various agencies across the country
- Experience with rules-based calendaring software, preferred
- High level of skill in their ability to research, analyze and summarize issues in writing; must possess key critical thinking skills to support analysis and summary of findings with an unwavering commitment to quality of work
- High level of skill in their ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make sound judgments
- Ability to work independently and strategically in a high volume, fast-paced environment and sort priorities with minimum level of supervision while still meeting deadlines and business objectives
- Service-oriented and able to work collaboratively with attorneys, staff and other members of the Litigation Docketing Department
- Excellent skills/knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe PDF Creator (or equivalent); experience with MS Access (or similar DB software)
Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD:
$113,000 - $120,000 per year
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.

- Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate or experience/education equivalent required.
Skills & Technical Requirements
