The Linux Systems Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring our Linux servers and systems are configured and running optimally. This individual will solve complex database problems and play a critical role in the overall success of the organization. Position Responsibilities
- Design and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers and workstations
- Provide technical support for computer network issues
- Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues
- Design integrated computer systems
- Test computer hardware performance
- Test software performance
- Document operational activities
- Install computer hardware
- Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with best practices.
- Perform system monitoring, integrity verification, and availability of hardware, server resources, and key processes
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any intrusions
- Create, execute, and maintain data backup plan
- Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
- Create, change, and or delete user accounts as required
- Responsible for hardware/software asset management and deployment for new and existing employees
- Provide help desk support and resolve issues for end-users
Job Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Proficiency with Bash, Python, or a UNIX oriented scripting language (particularly with a focus on automation)
- Minimum of 6 years of systems administration experience in a small to medium sized business’s IT team
- Experience working in a Linux environment as a system administrator
- Familiarity with basic networking (IP addresses, routing, firewalls)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools
- Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science or related field
- 10 years of systems administration experience
- Experience in Ansible
- CompTIA Linux+ Certification
- Experience working in an Enterprise Linux environment with any distribution
- Experience with LUKS encryption and LVM management at scale
- SELinux or AppArmor Endpoint Management
- Containerization experience with Docker or equivalent a huge plus
- Server Endpoint Automation and Deployment with Kubernetes or equivalent
- CompTIA Server+ Certification
- Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification
The total compensation for this role can vary from $125,000 to $156,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
