Position OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned linux administrator (mostly RHEL) who excels at automation and platform design. The successful candidate will build, secure, and operate large?scale, container?centric platforms that enable rapid, reliable software delivery across the organization. This role emphasizes containerization and end?to?end CI/CD pipelines, with deep expertise in the tools listed below and solid kubernetes experience.
Key Responsibilities- Platform Architecture & Automation
- Design, implement, and operate container?centric platforms using rootlessPodman for unprivileged workloads.
- Build immutable images with Packer and orchestrate provisioning through Ansible playbooks.
- Manage artifact repositories in SonatypeNexus for container images, Helm charts, and binary packages.
- Kubernetes: Deploy, scale, and maintain production?grade clusters; integrate Helm charts and custom resources; ensure seamless interaction between Podman?based workloads and K8s environments.
- CI/CD & Release Engineering
- Construct robust end?to?end pipelines in GitLab CI/CD, incorporating automated testing, security scanning, and production deployments.
- Develop and maintain custom Python scripts for orchestration, API integration, and utility automation (e.g., Nexus, Vault, GitLab).
- Security & Secrets Management
- Deploy and operate HashiCorp Vault for dynamic secrets, encryption?as?a?service, and credential rotation across all environments.
- Harden container runtimes (rootless Podman) and enforce least?privilege policies throughout the stack.
- Infrastructure & Configuration Management
- Write production?grade Ansible roles and collections to provision and configure compute, networking, storage, and monitoring resources.
- Observability & Reliability
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for container workloads and platform services.
- Build self?service tooling and dashboards that empower engineering teams to troubleshoot and scale independently.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Partner with software engineering, security, and SRE teams to define best?practice standards and ensure alignment with overall platform architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers on containerization, IaC, Kubernetes, and automation best practices.
Required Experience & SkillsArea Minimum Requirements Containerization 2-3?years building, deploying, and managing containers with rootless Podman (or comparable runtimes).
Configuration Management Expert?level Ansible (playbooks, roles, collections) for large?scale infrastructure.
Artifact Management Hands?on experience with Nexus Repository Manager (Docker, Maven, NuGet, raw).
Image Building Knowledge of Packer for immutable image creation (VM, container, cloud).
Secrets Management Production deployment and operation of HashiCorp Vault (dynamic secrets, policies, auth methods).
CI/CD Pipelines Design, implement, and maintain robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines (including runners, caching, and security scanning).
Kubernetes Proven experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes clusters; comfortable with Helm, custom resources, and networking.
Platform Architecture Awareness Ability to design and evaluate end?to?end platform architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across all layers.
Linux & System Ops Strong Linux administration (systemd, networking, security hardening) and comfort with rootless container environments.
Automation Mindset Demonstrated track record of reducing manual toil through code?driven processes and tooling.
Communication Ability to document architecture, write clear runbooks, and present to cross?functional audiences.
