Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized practical nursing program or equivalent training.
• Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BCCNM.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with patients and families effectively.
• Organizational skills to implement plans of care.
• Knowledge of full scope of practice requirements by BCCNM, including medication administration.
• Physical ability to meet job demands.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family strengths and needs in multiple dimensions.
• Create a supportive environment, encouraging patient involvement in decisions.
• Contribute to individualized care plans during multidisciplinary meetings.
• Administer nursing care according to policies, evaluating outcomes and reporting issues.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers according to protocols.
• Document and update care records for patient safety and comfort.
• Operate and maintain patient care equipment effectively.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment for all patients and staff.
• Orient new staff and students to the healthcare team.
• Engage in quality improvement and participate in team activities.
