Full Job Description
We're seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with hands-on HVAC and mechanical design experience to lead engineering projects for commercial, healthcare, institutional, and municipal facilities. This role combines technical design leadership with construction-phase support, from initial system design through final project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design HVAC and mechanical systems that meet building requirements, performance standards, and applicable codes.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations, evaluate ventilation needs, select equipment, and assess energy efficiency.
Prepare mechanical plans, technical specifications, equipment schedules, engineering calculations, and construction documents.
Serve as Engineer of Record when assigned, ensuring technical quality and sound engineering decisions throughout the project.
Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Evaluate existing building conditions, regulatory requirements, and project constraints to determine appropriate design solutions.
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and proposed design changes for technical compliance.
Conduct site visits, field evaluations, and construction observations to verify design intent and identify installation issues.
Resolve design conflicts, code concerns, and field challenges while maintaining system performance and compliance.
Evaluate alternative designs to improve cost efficiency, energy performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Support commissioning, inspections, testing, and final project handover.
Sign and seal engineering documents as authorized by licensure and applicable regulations.
Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards.
Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
