ABOUT EHD:
Elizabeth Hales Design is a premier architecture and interior design firm creating highly considered residential and commercial environments through an integrative approach to design. We believe exceptional spaces are the result of thoughtful collaboration, intentional design, and a strong connection between architecture, interiors, materiality, and function.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
EHD is seeking an experienced Licensed Architect / Creative Project Manager to join our Salt Lake City studio. This is a senior, design-focused leadership role responsible for establishing and driving the architectural vision of luxury residential and boutique hospitality projects while leading the overall project process from concept through completion.
The ideal candidate is both a strong architectural designer and an experienced project leader—someone who can translate a client's vision into a compelling architectural concept, confidently lead clients and project teams, make thoughtful design decisions, and maintain momentum across all phases of a project.
At EHD, project leadership is highly collaborative. The Creative Project Manager works closely with our Operations Manager and Technical Quality Manager, allowing this role to remain focused on creative direction, schematic design, client leadership, team management, consultant coordination, and overall project ownership. Operations supports project schedules, staffing, hours, and resources, while Technical Quality oversees code compliance, technical documentation, constructability, permitting, and QA/QC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead architectural programming, conceptual design, and Schematic Design for assigned projects.
- Establish and develop the overall architectural vision, including floor plans, massing, circulation, exterior architecture, materiality, and composition.
- Translate client goals, site opportunities, and EHD's design philosophy into thoughtful and cohesive architectural concepts.
- Lead the presentation and communication of design concepts to clients, guiding conversations and decisions throughout the design process.
- Maintain the integrity of the design vision from Schematic Design through Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
- Serve as the primary architectural project leader, maintaining accountability for project direction, priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
- Direct and mentor architectural team members, providing clear creative direction, feedback, and project priorities.
- Coordinate closely with EHD's Interiors team to ensure architecture and interiors are developed as a cohesive whole.
- Lead coordination with builders, engineers, landscape architects, specialty consultants, and other project partners.
- Partner with the Operations Manager on project schedules, staffing, hour allocations, workload, and overall project performance.
- Partner with the Technical Quality Manager on building codes, technical documentation, constructability, permitting, drawing standards, and QA/QC.
- Anticipate design and project challenges, develop solutions, and proactively maintain project momentum.
- Participate in preliminary sales meetings, project interviews, and prospective client conversations.
- Clearly communicate EHD's design process, capabilities, and architectural approach to prospective and current clients.
- Maintain a high level of design quality, organization, communication, and accountability throughout the life of each project.
