Full Job Description
Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Practice Assistant working remotely for their San Francisco or Glendale/Los Angeles, CA office. This position requires the ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and effectively support multiple timekeepers daily. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering superior service to attorneys and clients alike. In addition, the candidate should also be a team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents with precision and professionalism.
  • Manage electronic filing of legal documents in both Federal and State courts, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements.
  • Proofread, format, and assist with appellate filings, including cite-checking and document preparation.
  • Coordinate in-person and virtual meetings including scheduling, room reservations, catering, and IT support.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and schedules, ensuring timely reminders and updates.
  • Provide daily administrative and clerical support to assigned attorneys.
  • Open new client and matter files and assist with related intake procedures.
  • Prepare and submit electronic expense reports.
  • Arrange travel itineraries and manage related logistics.
  • Redline and compare documents using document comparison software.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper files using NetDocuments.
  • Analyze and save key correspondence and emails using standardized naming conventions.
  • Conduct research as requested by attorneys and/or paralegals.
  • Respond professionally to inquiries from clients, attorneys, and internal teams.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate discretion in all client matters.
  • Enter attorney time as required.
  • Provide backup support to other team members as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Foster positive working relationships with clients, attorneys, and staff.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a legal assistant supporting both litigation and transactional practices; appellate experience preferred.
  • Federal and State electronic court filing experience required.
  • Experience with electronic databases and document management systems; familiarity with NetDocuments or similar document management system preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in collaboration on assignments while exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, proofreading, and document formatting abilities.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience maintaining electronic databases, records, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule with flexibility for overtime as required to meet business needs.


Compensation: The salary range for this position is approximately $79,500 - $130,000. This salary may be higher or lower depending upon internal equity, and verifiable years of experience.
