Responsibilities

Legal Fellows may be assigned projects across a range of substantive areas or may be tasked to specialize in a key area depending on the fellow's experience and Policy Integrity's priorities. Legal Fellows work with Policy Integrity's economists, lawyers, and policy analysts to:

• draft amicus briefs to the Supreme Court, D.C. Circuit, and other courts in major policy cases;
• draft regulatory comments, petitions for rulemakings, and other formal submissions to federal and state agencies including state Public Utility Commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Interior, and the Department of Health and Human Services;
• advise other advocacy organizations on how to navigate regulatory impact analyses;
• supervise the work of NYU Law School students in the Regulatory Policy Clinic; and
• publish academic articles and op-eds.

Benefits and Terms of Employment

In compliance with New York City's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$104,000. NYU considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, applicant's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Policy Integrity follows a hybrid schedule that requires three days in office per week. Policy Integrity is looking to hire at least one legal fellow who can start immediately or at some point during the [redacted] academic year; all others will have the option to start at the beginning of the next academic year in September 2026.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

• J.D., with superior academic achievement;
• 0-3 years of legal experience;
• Clerkships, litigation experience, legislative experience, or advanced degrees in relevant disciplines are valued, but not necessary; and
• Applicants' written materials will be reviewed to assess their professionalism, independent thinking, and persuasive writing skills, as well as their ability and willingness to absorb new subject matters in law and policy.
