We are currently seeking a motivated and detail oriented Legal Counsel Senior Manager to join our on-site legal team here in Windsor, Ontario.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise and provide timely counsel on a variety of legal and compliance topics, including but not limited to, employment, labour, regulatory matters, litigation, health and safety, environment and business contracts.
  • Provide legal and compliance training to internal clients and for the organization.
  • Develop strategies and design, create and establish corporate practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Review company policies and practices on a regular basis to ensure for compliance.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and maintenance of various corporate programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and general reports for executive management.
  • Prepare for the possibility of audits and investigations by developing strategies, maintaining records, and designing procedures.
  • Prepare, review and negotiate company contracts and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with outside counsel, as needed.
  • Generate accurate work products as required and on time.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance and interaction with employees and management is required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • LL.B. or LL.M. Degree and licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario
  • 10+ years of experience as a practising lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel
  • Experience with and exposure to corporate law, compliance, labour & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate and commercial laws, including corporate secretary and governance practices and requirements
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and oral/written skills
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effectively organize and manage priorities to meet the business objectives
  • Business development experience and previous manufacturing experience preferred.
