Join our team as a Lead Water-Wastewater Engineer in Bloomington, MN where you will have the opportunity to be a technical lead, design innovator, and mentor while delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects that protect the health and well-being of the public and the environment - from our backyard in the greater Twin Cities and throughout the country.

As a member of our team, you will provide end-to-end services - from planning and design through rehabilitation and construction administration - on various municipal and industrial drinking water, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater systems. Furthermore, you will collaborate with and be supported by the ever-growing multidisciplinary expertise of your fellow employee-owners with backgrounds in civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and architecture.

This position is preferred to sit in our Bloomington, Minnesota office, but can also reside in our Milwaukee, Downers Grove, or Duluth offices.

What You'll Do

  • Lead technical design: Plan and design water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and collection/distribution systems from concept through construction.
  • Serve as a technical leader: Apply sound judgment and creativity to plan, organize, and guide complex projects; Provide input to improve design standards that produce consistent, high-quality deliverables.
  • Direct project teams: Oversee technical tasks and deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and design quality across assigned projects.
  • Produce and review deliverables: Prepare or oversee complex engineering calculations, plans, and specifications; conduct quality control reviews consistent with company, client, and project-specific standards.
  • Mentor future talent: Share your expertise and guide emerging engineers as they grow in their careers.
  • Collaborate with clients: Work closely with municipalities, utilities, and private developers to deliver innovative sustainable solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Engineer (PE) with 20+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience, including leading the technical delivery of public and/or private conveyance, and treatment facility projects.
  • Extensive experience developing conceptual and detailed plans and specifications, including hydraulic analyses, plant layouts, equipment review/selection, and collection system design.
  • Prior experience with process evaluations, cost estimating, and construction administration.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcMap, SWMM, AFT Fathom, SewerCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and/or Revit.


Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to travel up to 15% (including occasional overnight travel).
  • Masters degree with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment.
  • Experience with conceptual and facility planning, permitting, and coordination with regulators.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and provide technical direction throughout all design phases.
  • Prior experience leading the design of multidisciplinary projects with engineering fees over $1 M.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate client and stakeholder relations and to secure public and private project opportunities - within the Twin Cities metro, across greater Minnesota, and throughout the upper Midwest


$145,000 - $172,000 a year

The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 20+ years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities. Provided salary does not include additional compensation, such as TKDA's ESOP and bonus program.

Milwaukee: $148,500 - $176,300

Duluth: $137,750 - $163,400
