We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Automation Engineer to lead automation testing initiatives across web, mobile, API, and backend platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep hands-on automation expertise with leadership experience, serving as a technical lead responsible for automation framework development, test strategy, estimation, delivery oversight, and team mentoring. This role requires a technical leader who can design scalable automation solutions, resolve complex coding challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive quality across the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: - Lead automation testing efforts for web, mobile, API, and backend applications. - Design, develop, and enhance robust automation frameworks from scratch. - Create and maintain automated test suites using Java, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, and related technologies. - Develop and execute API test automation using tools such as REST Assured, Postman, or similar frameworks. - Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing. - Validate application data and backend processing through SQL and database testing. - Define test strategies, testing approaches, effort estimates, and quality metrics. - Troubleshoot automation failures and provide technical guidance to team members. - Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are met. - Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, and retrospectives. - Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to QA and automation team members. - Generate project status reports, testing metrics, and quality dashboards for leadership and stakeholders. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives across automation processes, tools, and frameworks. Required Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and Test Automation. - Strong hands-on programming experience with Java. - 4+ years of experience building and maintaining Selenium automation frameworks. - 2+ years of experience with mobile automation using Appium. - Strong experience with API testing and automation. - Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML validation, and backend testing. - Strong SQL and database validation skills. - Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up. - Demonstrated experience leading testing teams and automation initiatives. - Experience with test estimation, planning, reporting, and project coordination. - Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies. - Experience using JIRA or similar defect management tools. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional testing efforts. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Playwright. - Experience with low-code automation platforms such as Mabl. - Insurance or financial services industry experience. - Performance testing experience using JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools. - Accessibility testing knowledge. - Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programs. - Experience testing across real mobile devices, emulators, and simulators. The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $100,000 - $115,000/ yearly.
