The Lead Software Engineer as a key member of the Agile delivery organization, the Lead Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, engineering direction, and delivery oversight for enterprise pharmacy applications and platforms. This role leads the design, development, enhancement, and support of business-critical systems while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, operational, and quality standards.
Working across Product, Business, Operations, Architecture, SRE, Infrastructure, and Vendor teams, the Lead Engineer drives the successful delivery of projects, enhancements, operational improvements, and production support activities. The role focuses on ensuring application stability, resiliency, performance, and operational excellence while mentoring engineering teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Strategy & Engineering Leadership- Define and communicate technical direction, engineering standards, and solution approaches for enterprise pharmacy applications and platforms.
- Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and Business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Evaluate solution options and provide technical recommendations that balance business value, risk, cost, and maintainability.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
Engineering Delivery & Solution Development- Lead engineering teams through the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of application enhancements and projects.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for complex engineering initiatives and system integrations.
- Ensure delivered solutions meet performance, quality, scalability, and reliability expectations.
- Review technical designs, code quality, and implementation approaches to promote engineering excellence.
Application Support & Operational Excellence- Lead support activities for business-critical production applications and services.
- Drive incident management, root-cause analysis, problem resolution, and service restoration efforts.
- Ensure application availability, stability, performance, and operational readiness.
- Partner with Operations and SRE teams to improve monitoring, alerting, observability, and capacity planning.
- Identify and remediate technical debt, recurring production issues, and operational risks.
- Support release planning, deployment activities, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity initiatives.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business teams, Architects, Security, Infrastructure, SRE, and Vendor organizations.
- Lead technical reviews, engineering planning sessions, operational readiness assessments, and release governance activities.
- Manage technical dependencies, delivery risks, and competing priorities across multiple teams.
- Influence technical decision-making through engineering expertise, data-driven recommendations, and industry best practices.
Reliability, Performance & Continuous Improvement- Define, monitor, and report on KPIs related to application availability, incident reduction, service levels, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, reliability, maintainability, and engineering productivity.
- Improve development and operational processes through DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence across engineering teams.
Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience within complex enterprise technology environments.
- 3+ years of technical leadership experience leading engineering teams and strategic initiatives.
- Strong expertise in application development, system integration, enterprise architecture, and software engineering practices.
- Experience leading large-scale enterprise projects, platform enhancements, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production applications and high-volume transaction processing systems.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile delivery methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across business, operational, architecture, engineering, infrastructure, and vendor organizations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills with a focus on reliability and operational excellence.
- Knowledge of healthcare, pharmacy operations, or regulated industries preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within high-volume, transaction-oriented environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical dependencies, resolve complex production issues, and drive execution across multiple initiatives.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and leadership skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make strategic technical decisions on complex business and technology challenges with minimal supervision.

Pay RangeThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$129,300 - $177,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
