The Site RSO & EHS Lead serves as the site-level lead for radiation safety, environmental health and safety, and chemical hygiene under corporate oversight. Combines responsibilities of a Site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and a Site EHS Representative / Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) into a single, site-based position.

This role supports implementation of site safety programs, oversees activities involving radiation sources and radioactive materials, coordinates routine compliance and inspection activities, maintains required records, supports training and emergency preparedness, and serves as the primary local contact for safety-related issues. The position works closely with the CRSO, the Safety Committee, site supervisor, and site leadership to promote regulatory compliance, safe operations, and continuous improvement. As the BAMF Health network grows, this role may support two or more regional sites, which may require periodic travel.

Responsible for all aspects of Healthcare Compliance

• Serve as the site-level lead for radiation safety, environmental health and safety, and chemical hygiene, acting as the primary local liaison between site operations and corporate safety leadership (the CRSO and the Safety Committee).
• Oversee site activities involving radiation sources and radioactive materials, ensuring compliance with license conditions and keeping exposures As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA); ensure dosimetry, surveys, stack monitoring, vault interlock checks, and cyclotron emergency shutdowns are performed and documented at the required intervals.
• Implement site-level requirements of the EHS Manual, Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP), and radiation safety program; maintain the site chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs); oversee DOT, radioactive source return, and generator shipments at the site; and support hazardous chemical control, PPE oversight, and hazardous waste and spill response activities.
• Coordinate, perform, and document routine site inspections, safety checks, and monitoring for laboratories, chemical storage, emergency equipment, engineered controls, and radiation safety systems, including eyewash/shower, fire extinguisher, and defibrillator checks.
• Maintain required site safety documentation in accordance with good documentation practices, including training, inspection, incident, spill, dosimetry, and radiation safety records, and organize records so they are available to the Safety Committee and regulators.
• Coordinate and document site safety training and confirm applicable team members complete required training related to chemical safety, radiation safety, emergency response, laboratory hazards, equipment use, and PPE requirements.
• Serve as the site coordinator for emergency preparedness and response, including evacuation and shelter-in-place coordination, emergency contact updates, periodic drills, emergency equipment readiness, and initial incident response and reporting.
• Receive and communicate safety concerns, hazards, incidents, near misses, and program violations, initiating immediate corrective actions when appropriate and escalating issues to the CRSO for corrective-action consideration and leadership review.
• Support the CRSO in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, including the CHP and radiation safety program; recommend shielding, dose-reduction, and ALARA workflow improvements, and support exposure monitoring and incident investigations.
• Support continuous improvement of site safety operations by identifying workflow risks, communicating operational impacts, coordinating calibration and equipment compliance, and strengthening site ownership of safety responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in radiation safety, EHS, chemical hygiene, laboratory safety, or a related regulated environment required.

• Working knowledge of radiation safety fundamentals, hazardous chemical safety, training documentation, inspections, incident response, and compliance recordkeeping required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 years of radiation safety or radioactive materials handling experience, ideally in a PET radiopharmacy, nuclear medicine, or cGMP setting preferred.

• OSHA/MIOSHA laboratory safety experience preferred

• Experience with audits, CAPA, and regulated documentation preferred

• Experience supporting hazardous waste, spill response, and emergency drills preferred
• DOT hazmat familiarity for radioactive or hazardous material shipping support preferred
• Current or progressing credentials toward NRRPT (National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists) or similar radiation safety certification preferred
