Overview

The Lead Scheduler is responsible for creating and updating program and project schedules in Primavera P6 and subsequent versions.   

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed Primavera P6 schedules for pipeline, complex facility, and pipeline utility infrastructure projects.
  • Develop integrated project schedules from approved scope, project execution plans, engineering deliverables, procurement requirements, construction sequencing, and contractual milestones.
  • Integrate EPC and contractor schedules, subcontractor schedules, and schedule fragments into the overall project and program master schedules while maintaining appropriate schedule logic and coding structures.
  • Perform detailed Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis to identify critical and near-critical activities, schedule constraints, float erosion, emerging delays, and potential impacts to key project milestones.
  • Analyze schedules for compression and recovery opportunities and work with Project Managers, construction teams, engineering, procurement, and contractors to develop mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Establish and maintain approved project baseline schedules and perform current-versus-baseline analysis to identify milestone movement, schedule variance, and developing areas of concern.
  • Perform comprehensive schedule delay analysis using Primavera P6 to identify, quantify, and assess delays affecting critical and near-critical paths, contractual milestones, and forecast completion dates.
  • Conduct Time Impact Analysis (TIA) by developing and inserting schedule fragments to evaluate the prospective impact of scope changes, design modifications, unforeseen field conditions, procurement delays, and other project events.
  • Develop cost- and resource-loaded schedules and integrate schedule progress with cost information to support forecasting, resource planning, cash-flow projections, and Earned Value Analysis.
  • Perform Earned Value Analysis and evaluate planned value, earned value, actual costs, schedule performance, cost performance, and forecast trends to support management decision-making.
  • Evaluate potential schedule impacts associated with design changes, procurement delays, construction constraints, contractor performance, and field conditions.
  • Communicate schedule deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to Project Managers, project controls personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with established Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project codes, global codes, calendars, templates, and scheduling procedures across projects and programs.
  • Coordinate schedule information with cost controls and project management teams to produce detailed project reports analyzing actual costs, forecast costs, project cash flows, schedule performance, and cost/schedule trends.
  • Develop dashboards and management reports to communicate project schedule status, milestone performance, critical-path activities, schedule variance, cost trends, and forecast completion dates.
  • Facilitate regular schedule review meetings with Project Managers, engineering, procurement, construction, contractors, and client stakeholders to validate progress and resolve schedule issues.
  • Provide timely schedule analysis and recommendations to project leadership regarding potential delays, resource constraints, sequencing issues, and milestone risks.
  • Collaborate with project controls leadership and stakeholders to develop and refine schedule templates, scheduling procedures, standards, coding structures, and scheduling manuals.
  • Coordinate scheduling activities across multiple projects and work with other schedulers to maintain consistent scheduling methodology and reporting standards.
  • Perform routine schedule QA/QC assessments, including reviews of logic, open ends, constraints, excessive float, negative float, out-of-sequence progress, activity durations, calendars, coding, and compliance with scheduling standards.
  • Develops, trains, and mentors lower-level schedulers.
  • Integrate Primavera P6 data into other platforms, such as K2, SAP, IBM Planning Analytics
  • Publish approved schedules, reports, and schedule extracts in PDF, Excel, and other required formats to designated SharePoint and project document-control locations.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field from accredited program preferred.
  • 10+ years demonstrated experience in management of complex, multi-phase, capital projects or programs.
  • Proficient in Primavera version 6 (P6) - an Oracle product.
  • Proficient in Office 365; SharePoint Online.
  • Communicate effectively to a diverse audience of different levels of education and expertise verbally and in writing; able to present to a large audience; works well in one-on-one and group settings requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible for projects or portfolio worth over $100 million with facility and pipeline project experience.
  • PMI-SP,PSP, PMP desirable.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000.  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
