Position SummaryAs a Lead Quantitative UX Researcher, you'll make behavioral data a core part of how we understand users, using Amplitude and behavioral analytics to uncover meaningful insights into the diverse client and customer populations we serve as a healthcare company. Embedded in specific product areas and partnering closely with our Behavioral Data & Product (BDP) team, you'll drive how behavioral data shapes everyday product decisions alongside product, design, and engineering partners. This isn't a lone-researcher role delivering findings from the sidelines: you'll stay with the team to understand why users behave the way they do and help decide what we build in response. You'll also be the team's resident expert on behavioral data, helping teammates see what's possible with it and get invested in using it well. This is a hybrid role based in Boston and reports to the Principal Design Researcher, Senior Manager.
About the TeamThe Data and Ecosystem Platform subdivision focuses on data access, integration, and interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem. As part of the broader User Experience team, you will support specific product areas while shifting focus as organizational priorities evolve. The role will primarily focus on hands-on research and exploration, with additional responsibility for turning effective methods, cohort definitions, dashboards, study designs, and tracking standards into repeatable resources for other teams that raise the bar for how teams across the organization use behavioral data.
Essential Job Responsibilities- Plan research with Product, Design, Engineering, and Research partners by defining research questions, hypotheses, study designs, and success measures.
- Analyze user and customer behavior through funnel and drop-off analysis, retention and cohort comparisons, journey and path analysis, behavioral segmentation, controlled experiments, surveys, and statistical modeling.
- Use Amplitude, SQL, and R or Python to combine data sources, conduct significance testing and modeling, and analyze behavioral, survey, and mixed-method data.
- Identify segment- and specialty-specific patterns that improve the organization's understanding of its diverse users and customers.
- Combine quantitative findings with qualitative and survey research to develop a more complete understanding of user behavior and the factors influencing it.
- Conduct qualitative research, including user interviews, usability testing, concept testing, diary studies, and contextual inquiry.
- Define meaningful cohorts and segments and translate them into participant lists, screeners, and outreach criteria.
- Partner with the Behavioral Data & Product and Engineering teams on cross-product analyses, event taxonomies, tracking plans, data quality, and centralized user profile use cases.
- Develop clear dashboards, reports, readouts, and recommendations that help technical and non-technical stakeholders make product and design decisions.
- Apply AI tools responsibly to improve the speed, scale, and quality of behavioral and survey data analysis while developing transparent, repeatable AI-assisted research workflows
Additional Job Responsibilities- Identify behavioral research opportunities and carry them from initial questions through analysis, recommendations, and product decisions.
- Integrate behavioral insights into product planning, design critiques, experimentation, and post-launch reviews.
- Partner with designers to translate findings into design recommendations and evaluate whether experience changes achieve the intended results.
- Convert effective research methods, templates, dashboards, and study designs into repeatable tools and processes in partnership with the Behavioral Data & Product team.
- Create case studies and practical examples that demonstrate how behavioral data and Amplitude can support product decisions.
- Share knowledge about behavioral analytics methods and contribute to research standards and practices across the organization.
Expected Education & Experience- 5+ years of industry experience in quantitative UX research or behavioral data science, with demonstrated depth in behavioral data and hands-on experience in experimentation.
- Proficiency in SQL and R or Python, and in statistical methods such as significance testing and modeling.
- Experience with product analytics platforms, specifically Amplitude.
- Experience using AI tools in everyday research practice to improve the speed, scale, and quality of behavioral and survey data analysis and develop responsible, repeatable AI-assisted workflows.
- Working competence in qualitative methods, including user interviewing, usability testing, and concept testing.
- Working understanding of usability heuristics and core design principles, including information hierarchy, chart selection, and progressive disclosure, applied to dashboards, reports, and self-service tools.
- Demonstrated ability to move between technical rigor and clear stakeholder communication.
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating problem framing, study design, analysis, and how findings shaped product decisions.
- Academic or professional background in behavioral science, behavioral economics, the social sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, enterprise software, or other complex operational domains preferred.
