In this role, you will coordinate multiple sub-projects and workstreams, ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and customer-facing activities.

You will be responsible for driving project execution from planning through delivery, while consolidating progress, risks, and priorities into a clear overall project view. The role also requires strong reporting and communication with leadership, as well as close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project objectives are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with quality and contractual requirements.

Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of large, complex substation projects within GE Vernova's Grid Systems Integration (GSI) business, where multiple interdependent sub-projects must be coordinated into one integrated delivery plan. This role consolidates and supports activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and customer interface workstreams to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, cost, quality, and contract commitments.

In addition to managing the full range of project management activities, the Lead Project Manager serves as a critical link between project execution teams and leadership, providing structured governance, reliable reporting, risk visibility, and timely escalation of issues affecting delivery. The role requires strong cross-functional coordination, deep understanding of substation project execution, and the ability to translate detailed project performance into clear insights and decision support for internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform Project scope review and compare with the GEV quote upon transfer of the project file from the Commercial group to Project management.
  • Lead the project kick-off meeting with all internal contributors and assign roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead the customer kick-off meeting to communicate the nature of the work that will be done and clarify any issues in the order.
  • Lead the overall execution of complex substation projects, ensuring delivery in line with contractual scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Consolidate and coordinate activities across multiple sub-projects and workstreams, creating an integrated project view and ensuring alignment of priorities, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Drive project planning and execution across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective project governance, including project reviews, action tracking, decision logs, escalation management, and leadership reporting.
  • Monitor project performance against key metrics and proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, issues, delays, and cost impacts that could affect successful delivery.
  • Support sub-project leaders and functional teams in resolving cross-functional challenges, removing execution barriers, and maintaining focus on critical path activities.
  • Manage customer communication and stakeholder coordination to ensure transparency, alignment, and timely resolution of technical, commercial, and execution-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, internal processes, quality standards, and applicable regulatory and safety expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead change management activities, including evaluation of scope changes, schedule impacts, cost implications, and associated approvals or customer notifications.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely project status updates, forecasts, and executive summaries to leadership, highlighting performance, risks, decisions required, and recovery actions where needed.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the project team and interfacing functions.
  • Support project closing activities, including final deliverables, lessons learned, financial closure, and transition to warranty or service phases where applicable.

Required Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, operations, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience relevant to the role, in substations, grid infrastructure, energy, or other large and complex industrial projects along with managing project schedule, budget, quality, and safety deliverables end-to-end.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct site execution experience on substation, grid infrastructure, or large-scale industrial/construction projects

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Green Card holder) - no visa sponsorship available due to project/export control requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 15% on average, up to 20% at peak, including week-long site visits approximately every 6 weeks.
  • Must be able to work from a home office/remote setup or one of the approved locations (Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, or La Prairie, Canada) - no relocation assistance provided.
