Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Lead Paralegal to support the Litigation, Employment, and Ethics & Compliance legal functions. As our Lead Paralegal, you will have a unique opportunity to shape a function from the ground up. Reporting to the VP of Litigation and Employment, you will manage day-to-day litigation, support internal employment investigations, and partner with leadership to build an ethics and compliance program tailored to Oura's mission. This fast-growing consumer health tech environment requires someone who is comfortable operating with autonomy, thrives in ambiguity, and takes genuine ownership of their work.
What You Will Do:
Litigation Support
• Manage and coordinate all aspects of pre-litigation and active litigation matters, including investigation, maintaining case files, and coordinating with business teams to resolve consumer matters
• Lead legal hold processes end-to-end: issue notices, track acknowledgments, coordinate with IT and business teams, and ensure ongoing compliance
• Manage discovery, including collection, review, coordination, and production of documents in collaboration with outside counsel and e-discovery vendors
• Draft litigation correspondence, status reports, and matter summaries for internal stakeholders
• Maintain a litigation docket and reporting dashboard so leadership has real-time visibility into legal exposure and matter status
• Define and implement scalable litigation processes to support the company as it continues to grow
• Internal Investigations
• Conduct internal investigations related to potential violations of company policy, employment matters, and litigation.
• Maintain investigation files with strict confidentiality protocols and chain-of-custody documentation
• Coordinate with HR, Security, Finance, and other functions to gather facts and preserve relevant evidence
• Help draft investigation reports and track remediation action items to completion
Ethics & Compliance Program
• Partner with legal counsel to design, build, and operationalize Oura's ethics and compliance program, including a code of conduct, policy framework, and training curriculum
• Develop and maintain a compliance calendar and policy library, ensuring policies are current and accessible to employees
• Coordinate and track mandatory compliance training (e.g., anti-bribery, data privacy, conflicts of interest, insider trading) across the organization
• Manage Oura's ethics reporting channel (speak-up hotline or equivalent), triage incoming reports, and track investigation and resolution workflows
• Support conflict of interest disclosures, gift and entertainment policy administration, and third-party due diligence processes
• Prepare compliance metrics and reporting for senior leadership and the board as the program matures
Corporate Support
• Support corporate team on international entity structuring, including entity formations, inter-company transactions, and corporate registrations/business qualifications.
This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office.
What you'll bring
• 10+ years of paralegal experience, with meaningful exposure to commercial and corporate litigation and internal investigations, in-house legal department experience strongly preferred
• Experience supporting the development or administration of compliance programs, including policy drafting, training, or ethics reporting processes
• Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple matters simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to distill complex information clearly for non-legal audiences including for senior leadership
• High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential matters
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, scaling environment where processes are still being built
• Proficiency with legal technology platforms (e.g., matter management systems, e-discovery tools, contract management software)
• A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset - you identify problems and come prepared with options
Nice to have:
• Experience in consumer technology, digital health, or a regulated industry
• Experience working at a global company managing work across international jurisdictions
• Experience with ethics and compliance program frameworks
