Lead OFCI & Commissioning Support - Hamlet, NC - Full Time - ID# 7176

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer - Hyperscale to support our growing team in Hamlet, NC. In this role, you'll play a key part in driving project excellence, collaborating with industry leaders, and ensuring high-quality outcomes across complex initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

OFCI Equipment & Documentation Management

  • Manage the OFCI Log for equipment deliveries, including requesting push/pull tickets with vendors to align delivery timing with the project schedule.
  • Request deliveries from offsite storage facilities and integrators as needed to support installation activities.
  • Resolve equipment delivery conflicts and delays, escalating as required to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Manage the resource scheduling tool (e.g., Star Tool) by creating requests for Client and OFCI vendor resources needed for Level 2 through Level 5 (L2-L5) testing and commissioning activities.
  • Create and maintain a shared contact list (e.g., Smartsheet) of OFCI vendors and subcontractors to support project-wide communication and coordination.
  • Monitor progress of QC/commissioning inspection documentation completion, driving vendor and contractor support to close out inspections at least one week prior to H2C.
  • Manage the project document management system (e.g., Procore), including collection and review of equipment testing documentation, scheduling and coordinating work with commissioning, OFCI vendors, and subcontractors, and monitoring adherence to project requirements and equipment inspections.
  • Perform equipment assurance reviews of OFCI submittals to confirm approved engineering submittals match received equipment.
Coordination with Construction Superintendents & Subcontractors
  • Coordinate with general contractor superintendents and subcontractors to align equipment deliveries with project schedules.
  • Drive resolution between subcontractors and OFCI vendors during installation by ensuring concerns are communicated clearly and promptly between all parties.

Project Tracking

  • Maintain key project logs, including Delay, OFCI Repairs/Damages, and Generator Fuel, capturing schedule impacts, equipment issues, damages, and part reallocations.
  • Escalate and communicate delays weekly to the Campus Lead, Commissioning Engineer, and Project Manager to minimize impacts to L2-L5 testing.
  • Coordinate generator fueling readiness following successful pressure/leak testing and county inspection approval, and notify the Client when ready.
  • Track Mechanical Completion Milestone (MCM) dates with Engineering/Operations and Construction Management teams using shared tracking tools such as Smartsheet.

Meeting Facilitation & Participation

  • Lead weekly OFCI vendor and trade coordination meetings, tracking deliveries, installation status, equipment replacement, schedule impacts, push/pull tickets, and cross-party concerns.
  • Support L2/L3 coordination, driving observation resolution, ensuring required inspection documentation is completed, and updating resource schedules for changes and vendor requests.
  • Support daily L4/L5 commissioning activities, coordinating OFCI/vendor resources, resolving observations, maintaining resource schedules, and serving as backup to the Commissioning Project Engineer as needed.
  • Participate in recurring construction, project, OAC, and MCM meetings to coordinate activities, address constraints, and maintain alignment with project milestones.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction coordination, procurement/logistics, or commissioning support, preferably within mission-critical or data center environments.
  • Working knowledge of Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) equipment processes, including delivery logistics, installation coordination, and commissioning support.
  • Familiarity with commissioning process levels (L1-L5) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) methodology.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration platforms such as Procore and Smartsheet, and experience with resource scheduling tools.
