Your role in the mission: The Lead Laboratory Technical Associate will be responsible for:
- Assembling equipment, sub-systems, instruments and data acquisition for a fusion fuel cycle development lab using UHV best practices;
- Planning, writing procedures, and performing experiments;
- Mentoring and teaching laboratory personnel how to operate UHV systems, compressed gas systems, and associated equipment safely;
- Manage laboratory equipment and consumables;
- Must be able to present experimental results to engineers and scientists.
The ideal Lead Laboratory Technical Associate must have a safety first mindset.
What you'll need:- Minimum 10 years of experience in a development laboratory using UHV systems and instruments;
- Solid understanding and experience using the globally harmonized system of classification and labelling of chemicals;
- Demonstrated experience using SDS and applying them to experimental planning, safety measures, and PPE;
- In depth knowledge of UHV systems, components, instruments, and best practices;
- Experience with cryogenic systems including cryocoolers, liquid nitrogen, and liquid helium;
- Mechanical and electrical assembly skills for UHV and cryogenic equipment;
- In depth knowledge of data acquisition and analysis;
- Presentation skills.
Desired experience- Hydrogen safety and compressed gas handling experience;
- Experience with hydrogen isotopes;
- Experience with clean room protocols;
- Experience cleaning, handling, and storing components for clean room use or UHV use;
- Operational experience with metal hydride storage beds;
- Knowledge of the fusion fuel cycle.
